Submission Questions

  1. How do we pay for the ad? This year, we are using an online payment center where you will be able to pay via credit card. Online payment will be available starting June 1, 2024. Feel free to start collecting photos and writing your message before that date.

You can pay online by going to either of these two sites: tinyurl.com/BVNSeniorAdPayment or www.yearbookordercenter.com

    The school number is: 3644
Or you may search by school name. Be sure to find “Blue Valley NORTH High School” as there are other Blue Valley schools.

Once in the site, you should be able to choose the size of the ad you would like. After you have paid, you can head over to this site to submit your message and photos.

Having trouble with the site and need help?

Call this number and someone will be able to help you with your purchase: 1-866-287-3096. They are open from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, Central Time. You can also email yearbookordercenter@herffjones.com for help. Questions for the yearbook staff or adviser? Email bvnseniorads@gmail.com.

  2. How should we submit our message? Please submit messages using the online submission form. Be sure to include an appropriate signature (Love, Mom and Dad).

  3. How should we submit digital photos?  Digital photos must be submitted on the online submission form. Files must be either a JPG or PDF file.

  4. How should we submit hard copy photos? Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will not be accepting hard copies of photos this year. Please scan your photos with at least 300 dpi and submit them in a JPG format. Please do not take pictures of hard copies as this creates a glare on the photos.

General Questions

  1. Can we still receive the early bird discount if we only send one item late?  No. Unfortunately, our publishing deadlines are very strict. You must turn in EVERY item of your tribute by August 31 at 11:59 p.m. for the early-bird discount. There are no exceptions.

  2. Can we get more than one ad for our student? Yes. If you order multiple ads, please submit multiple forms. Please make us aware if there will be more than one ad for your student by also emailing bvnseniorads@gmail.com.

  3. What do we do if we have twins? You may do one of two things. 1) Purchase an ad of any size, and they will share the ad size. In the past, parents have submitted photos of each student as individuals and some of them together. 2) Purchase two ads.

  4. Who will design the senior ad? Yearbook students will design each senior ad. If you would like to design it yourself or have someone else design it, there will be a $50 surcharge.

  5. If we want this to be a secret, will you make sure our student doesn’t find out about it?  We do our best to ensure your senior does not see the ad until distribution day, but we sometimes make mistakes.

Questions About Ad Contents

  1. Will you edit our ads’ contents?  The “Northern Light” staff reserves the right to edit all content for grammar, punctuation and spelling. Photos will be retouched to meet reproduction standards. Ads will be designed and edited for consistency and clarity. Editors may refuse content not suitable for student publications.

  2. Does the yearbook staff prefer hard copy or digital photos? Digital photos must be submitted for your student's ad submission. Please avoid taking photos of photos to send in — it will be best to scan them yourself. Pictures for senior ads must be a single photo — no collages or cutouts. When choosing pictures for your student’s ad, please respect the school’s policies, and keep in mind that the yearbook will print in color.

  3. Can we submit copyrighted images? Copyrighted images are not allowed to be reproduced in the yearbook and will be rejected. Please contact your photographers to have them remove logos from images before submitting them. Photographers may email us with photos directly if they choose.

  4. Can we send more words and fewer photos, or vice versa?  You may send as many words or pictures as you want as long as you don’t go over the limit. The online submission form will not allow you to exceed the specified word limit or photo submission limit.

  5. Can we send fewer photos or fewer words than the limit?  Yes! However, keep in mind that it can be difficult to design with less material for the ad space.

  6. Can we submit quotes or song lyrics? You may only use up to four lines of a song to avoid a copyright violation. You may use short quotes.

Other Questions

  1. How do we know you have received our materials? You will receive a copy of your submission almost immediately. Also, you will receive a confirmation email from the senior ads editors once we have all of your ad contents properly saved with no issues — including payment or photos from a photographer.

  2. Will I have the chance to proofread my senior’s ad after it has been designed? Yes. We’ll contact you at the email address you provide on the senior ad form once the ad is designed. Once you receive the email, you’ll have one week to proof the ad. Deadlines prohibit us from completely redesigning ads, but we will gladly correct spelling, check pictures and fix omissions. You should just email us back with any corrections or an “OK.“ There will be no reproofs.

  3. What if the yearbook staff makes an error? While yearbook staff members make every possible effort to place your advertisement without any omissions or errors, our liability is limited to the cost of the advertisement only. We cannot refund money for advertisements that are removed by the purchaser for any reason. Purchasing an advertisement in the Blue Valley North yearbook constitutes agreement with these terms.

  4. What if we have OTHER questions? Please contact the senior ads editors at bvnseniorads@gmail.com if you have any questions these questions don't address.
