Evaluation – Please note that the evaluation will be forwarded to members by email following the presentation. It will be sent to the email address you used to register. It will ONLY be sent to the email used at the time of registration. CE certificates for CCM and SW will be available for immediate download following the completion of the online survey. RN* Certificates may be sent via separate email within 2 weeks of the close of the online survey.
All members and potential members are welcome; however, CE’s are restricted to members only. All memberships previously established now require renewal. Renewal for 2018 is $50 for the year. Memberships may be renewed online via credit card, by mail via check or in person via cash, check or credit card. Membership applications will be available on site. Please note that potential sponsors may attend a single meeting to acquaint themselves with the group and determine the potential for sponsorship. Potential sponsors will be charged a modest fee of $30 to cover the cost of the dinner. All potential sponsors must register and pay the fee online.

Topic: When Can Health Care Providers Say “No”?
Outcome: Case Management Professionals will acquire knowledge and communication skills to identify and address ethical dilemmas that may result when non-beneficial interventions are requested by patients or surrogates.
Learner Objectives: Upon completion of this educational offering, participants will be able to:
1. Explain aspects of the ethical dilemma faced by providers and hospitals when they wish to limit “non-beneficial” care.
2. Identify communication strategies that help conversations be successful when there are divergent opinions about what care is appropriate and/or beneficial.
3. List at least one out-patient practice or dialogue that would assist in setting expectations consistent with evidence based medicine in the acute-care setting.
This course is designed for: Case Managers, Nurses, Social Workers, Vocational Counselors, Psychologists, Physicians, Medical and Rehabilitation Providers

Continuing Education: 1.25 Contact Hour of Continuing Education is offered for Registered Nurses, and 1.00 Continuing Education Contact Hour for Certified Case Managers or/and Social Workers.
Michigan State University College of Nursing is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Ohio Nurses Association an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (OH-294, 08/01/18), (OBN-001-91).
To receive CNE or CE Certificate of Completion, participants must register and sign in prior to the presentation. Criteria for successful completion for CNE is active participation at the entire event, verification of attendance and a completed evaluation, emailed follow the offering. If possible, please register using a personal email address to prevent firewall blocking of the evaluation, sent electronically. The CNE certificates will be available for download at the completion of the evaluation. Additionally, CNE certificates are sent separately to the participant’s email address.
