Coles EBA - RAFFWU Survey on Advice to Staff

The Retail and Fast Food Workers Union (RAFFWU) has received concerning reports from Coles workers across Australia regarding what they were told about the new Coles EBA. Workers have reported that officials of SDA, in paid meetings authorised by Coles, have said a "No Vote" will result in workers wages being cut and workers being placed on Award conditions.

This is simply untrue. A "No Vote" won't change the industrial instruments which apply to your employment.

Considering the number and frequency of reports, it is likely the vote outcome is affected by these misrepresentations. Thousands (or more) votes could be garnered on the basis of the false representations.

This survey will inform how RAFFWU responds to these issues and what we might say to the Fair Work Commission about these issues.

A "No Vote" would mean workers pay would be cut.

Workers on a Protected Hourly Rate would get wage increases without explaining they will get half the minimum wage increase, that is, half the increase of others.

Workers would get lots of overtime to make up for the lower base rate or lower flex up rate.

Bakers and nightfill workers will get overtime rates without explaining if the work is made shiftwork the overtime rates may not apply.
