1st day of the Comsci DayFebruary 19, 2010 (Comsci Day) at 11:00 AM
- On your blog (blogger.com, vox.com, i.ph or other - if you don't have one create a new one), simply create an article about the key phrase or just about anything, but optimize it so that it becomes the top Google search result for the contest key phrase. (see key phrase below)
- Your blog/s DOMAIN used for the entries should not contain any part of the key phrase.
- The blog (post and articles) should not contain any name of our school.
- Entries should be registered by leaving a comment below containing the name or the name of group participants and the URL entry of the participants. Unregistered entries will not be included on the official list of valid entries and are not qualified to get any of the prizes.

@Kyle talagang gumagaling kana ha.. Tips naman jan.. Ako tinatamad na nga sa mga contest. Pero pag umpisa ng contest excited ako pag kalagitnaan na tinatamad na. Tamad kasi ako mag build ng links.. Siguro nakita mo naman lahat ng links ko sa sikat ang pinoy halos lahat galing sa indonesian.
Pero lahat naman ng seo/link builder ay spammer eh kaya indi maiwasan na indi mag spam.. Ngyari datin sa entry ko noong hectic capiznon bloggers 2009 indi pa na index ang site ko binanatan ko na ng spamming kaya tuloy na sandbox ganon din sa entry ko ng oes tsetnoc sandbox din pero after 1 month top 10 kagad ang ranking. Pero dapat dahan dahan lang sa pag build ng links.
kaya nga idol ko ung mga mababa links pero high rank. try ko now gamitin ung underground linking pero di man ako kaintra. pero dapat pede ako sumali kasi diba hercor student din ako.
at wala pa ako domain na .com, info palang haha
saka ung google wla aman kasiguraduhan kong talgang mananalo ako diba. support naman na dapat pasalihin ako . sa contest.

As I said guys, kyle, the competition is for STUDENTS ONLY and there's no rule that is saying that you are not allowed to participate. It is just a call in my part and it is still up to you kyle if you want to participate. If you really want to participate, it is just fine with me.

I too think that kyle is very eligible to join this contest and I know sir Felix is ok with that too. But just to repeat what others have said above, this is just for students and I do hope the students who will be joining this contest will be honest enough to do the optimization of their sites themselves.

@Renantech, that's the problem. Student's will think that you are doing something to help them directly. Guide them but do not be involved directly via linking them to your personal or owned websites/blogs. Give them chance to learn and don't involve your personal interests. It will just look bad!
It's OK that kyle will join the contest. Kasi naman he is still a student, but I Know kyle has more experience than the other students that is joining the contest.
But Sir Felix is correct. Teachers shouldn't involved directly by linking them to blogs or sites of ours. Just teach them and guide them. It is important that the noob bloggers and optimizers starts in a good way that they learn more things with their own works not in the bad way.
Sir Lix is it ok to form a group that for this contest with my students in 1st year level?

Yes teachers must not involved linking their blogs or sites but in this case they are already linked on some sites before this contest start because we are doing a link building strategy for Sikat ang Pinoy contest..

But this is a challenge for everyone. yah he has lots of strategy and techniques to build links but i know some newbie can build links and find their own strategy to compete thoose who have much skills in this field.

Just because my experience na si kyle sa SEO or link building lang it does not mean that he will be the winner na sa contest. kanya kanyang diskarte lang ina guys. Actually kung gusto mo mag.succeed sa SEO, dapat mahugod ka. Kay kung ang kontra mo super mayad sa seo pero matamad, wla cya sina padaog sa average pero mahugod.
Don't get discouraged just because may iban nga students nga may experience na. You should join this contest nga ang experience and knowledge nga imo makuha ang imo dapat reason. It doesn't matter kung daog ka or perdi. Just do your best lang. Let's have fun and I agree sa iban nga comments, dapat wala sang links sa sites sang mga teachers para fair. SEO is not just about backlinks. I never did any blog commenting to get backlinks. My site has very little backlinks but I still maintain top spots on the search engine. Although I do not deny the help it brings to your site, just don't overdo it.

@ Sir Jay indi lang nga sa backlinks para makakuha ng top spot pero iba ang seo contest dahil mostly more on backlinks ang ginagawa para maka kuha ng top spot. Marami na akong sinalihang international contest and national seo contest pero lahat ng mga nasa top ay may maraming backlinks galing sa blog commenting.
About naman sa mga site natin na syang nasa top spot ito naman ay basi sa kanilang traffic at more on blog reviews.

@sir renan thanks sa advice, actualy gin butang ko man un sa theory ko na di favorable mag lagay ng SEO sa post. pero dahil sa sinabi mo mejo nalinawan ako. kasi ako din na ban ung PR2 ko sa wordpress nawla ang PR. kahit lahat original content. now na intidhan ko na.

@Renan, I beg to disagree that mass links values a lot. Maybe in international competition they acquired a lot of backlinks by spamming but it is overcome by quality links. Quality links are usually the key to higher ranking. One quality link is more powerful than several bad links.
Aside from that, Filipino didn't win on previous competition because they are more wiser than them. Instead of spending their time for the contest to earn about $5,000 they just do something else that earn several folds than the prize.
However, competition provide a great avenue for NOOBs to learn and at the same time for PROs to spy on other techniques then learn in the process. That is what important.
My advice to students, develop your own strategy. Learn by reading a lot about SEO, it will worth you a fortune once you learn the craft! Good luck everyone!

Are you willing to sacrifice his reputation, making him help you win this FOR STUDENTS ONLY competition? What do you think your fellow students will think about this, if the situation is different. What if I link somebody here because I think it will help my entry too? Will you agree with that or will you think that I am UNFAIR too? What do you think will be my decision? What if I decide on the finals of the competition and disqualify your entry, will you agree with that too?
It is at your own risk, if the STUDENTS who tried their best to do their THING by themselves make an appeal and majority of them agreed with one thing, I can't do anything about it but to decide fairly in favor of the majority. What do you think? :)

I think I need to react on this for the sake of other bright and wise teachers of the school. Honestly IT department teachers don't need to use somebody for our career. We are enough because as you said we are wise and bright monkeys hehehe. But we share and care! We share what we have. Once our students learn the said CRAFT, their earnings will be much more higher than any jobs that you'll name in the province (from the managers to even congressmen) hehehe . :)

This is what i'v learned from SEO:
Dont be too good. Be just good enough. The closer you are to the top the more likely for anyone to attack you.
But I can't understand everyone that I'm not that good to be attack, I can't understand why theres people treat me like this. It is stab to me. But Until many people is still believing in me and reply with thanks I dont have to bother.
And I know God gave this skill to me because he know that I can handle this for good. You are only one that treated me as enemy but I have thousands of friends after all.

@ sir felix, Sir according to other IT instructor, Students who became the school bet for Captesa computer skills last month should be avoided in participating this contest. Is that true sir?
yup kuya, di na po pedeng sumali ang mga sumali na sa Captesa, kung like example. kung sumali ka sa encoding sa captesa hindi na pdeng sumali pa sa IT day encoding. ganun din sa WEB at Office application. rules un sa skul.
Un ung tinutukoy ng other IT instructor.
pero now wla namang SEO competition sa Captesa.
at kung susuriin reasonable na hindi makasali ang mga bet na sa captesa kasi dumaan na sila nang training ng skul. "reasonable"
But ang SEO, hindi naman dumaan ng training ng SEO ang mga player sa Captesa. kasi wla SEO sa captesa.
