A Guide To Merching *Updated for Events*

#1
This is a guide to those who want to make money and learn the ways of merching

Short Term
There are long term and short term ways of merching, short term is buying and selling in a matter of few days

Bulk Buy: One of the most successful ways of merching, a plat seller will most likely have a bulk buy discount so buy as many idols and elix as you can and resell it individually to make money, this also applies to other items like discs

Combo Deal: People wanting to re gear themselves or start new char will sell their old lux that they wont use for new character or build, this means that they will sell all their lux in combo deals in order to sell faster, seize the moment and take the chance you can always use for yourself or sell to others individually making quite a large profit

Drops: Sell em as soon as you get if you are not needing them

Tips n Tricks
-Dont advertise as you will lose money since someone looking to buy that particular item will always offer more than one who does not need it
-Add items to deals, look at that persons class and offer them drop needed for their particular quest since it is a pain to sell rems and tabs its the same as selling just taking the hassel out of doing it
-Start high when reselling, most likely you will meet in the middle of the buyers offer which is usually quite a good deal but its got to be reasonable (eg not starting offer for hero ammy at 250k but more like 190k)

Long Term
These are long term event items that will get more expensive over the years (yes years)
Noobs: Sometimes a lucky low level player will come across a rare event item and has nothing to do with it, buy it! They are always in need of instant gold so give it to them and you get that item for long term deposit
Event items: Any event item with a date on it will always be worth more than that of the same event, this is because in the future no one will know if the rad bp was from 2012 since all the old players may have quit and a collector will come along and buy a orange party hat for 500k not knowing it was a common one since that doesn’t show either
Tips n Tricks
-Buy anything that has a date on it even if it’s a really common one
-It will take patience so but it on a char you don’t play on your main account so you may find those items in years to come
-Items like green presents will also sell lots since that also has a date on it and new players in 5-10years time will love just being able to have a items in the first 2 years of the games release

Concluding that these are very efficient ways of making money and hopefully stop posts like ‘how to make money fast?’ since these pop up quite often and any other tips or tricks id happily edit and add to the list

*Updated*

Short Term
Rings: With this new update comes with new skills, and new skills means more rings. Take advantage of these new rings as high players wont be bothered to farm them themselves and busy levelling 24/7 which is a good thing for them and us. Head straight for the for the bosses you know and collect the rings, sell them or keep them (I will discuss this later)
Tomes: All high levels want every skill in game, collect these tomes and farm mobs then sell these asap, unlike rings these have no use when they are sitting in your bank unless you are keeping for alts. These tomes are usually around 10-15k once the bottle neck has cleared up but during the bottle neck you are able to sell them for up to 30-40k
Old Bosses: While OW is quite peaceful now take advantage of it and search for bosses, discover the third leystone and get to Chained King/Emperor/Prince quickly. As with the other bosses make sure you are a suitable level to contribute to the helping of the boss because you will get asked to leave more than likely. These drops are still valuable but rarer but you wont be able to sell for higher prices unfortunately as the new store bought items can easily compete with the frozen

Tips n Tricks
-Don’t expect all royal rings to go for the same price and look at the usage and popularity of that skill, generally the higher the demand the higher the price. (don’t expect royal bless to be same as royal swarm)
-Due to the new lux people will be wanting to get that lux asap, buy it cheaply and be patient for new flow of players to roll in and sell to them
-Always let the person buying make the offer and if its above what you expected ask for more if they say no sell it for their price, if its below what you expected ask for more and if they say no look for different buyer (within reason)

Long Term
Rings: As the new update arrives the economy is unstable, prices for different things can vary from 5-50k or even higher. Just like the last update rings were one of those things, start of the update no one knew the prices of the rings so they were sold for any reasonable price. From this we can learn ring prices will go up or down. It is up to you to choose which one it may be, sell straight away or gamble and hope for rising prices.
Old Lux: With the introduction of the new lux people will be in a rush for the latest items and hope they are able to get those items, in order to do so many will sell those items to a vendor in order to get quick and fast gold. Take advantage of this and buy items just above vendor price and amazingly people will still sell. This is in the long term section because you will have to be patient and wait

Tips n Tricks
-The not all rings are going to rise in price but may drop instead, hoping rings to rise and drop is at your own risk
-Take advantage of the economy when it is stable and unstable, many people are still unsure of what the prices for different items so take advantage of it
-DON’T LET OTHER TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU

*Updated December 2013*

Its been a while since i have updated this. This new section will just be mainly for the new recent events so here it is.

Short Term
Instruments: With the addition of the fast coming events more and more items are being added to chests additionally to the original lutes. Including the winter event there are many new instruments. The reason they are part of short term is because each event we are guaranteed to get chests and new instruments. So if you ever get an item sell it ASAP before more people get it. The first few items on a server is always worth the most so take advantage of it.

Chests: These will come every event and people will keep buying them. If you can get then for the usual plat price of 200-250 per plat try and buy it. Open these chests and sell the contents as you will usually get your money's worth 80% of the time. The only way you will really make a profit is if you get lucky from the chests and come across a rare item. Eg fast mount. Which you should sell straight away because more will come out and make old ones look like crap.

Quest drops: this is a very new addition to the event. These quest drops will be useless after the event so if you can farm these and sell to higher lvls who want what they are getting. Because so many people want it most pieces can go up to 25-30k a pop.

Long Term

Chests: The chests won't really be opened in the future but more of a collectable. So just gather maybe 5 chests from each event and sell in years to come to those collectors.

Lux: this is a very complicated section and risky at it. Knowing how unpredictable OTM can be with lux we never know if future items. Your best bet is to buy lux on the last day of an event and wait for the next one and see if it makes the old ones obsolete. If it does you can always ask for a refund.

Drops: these helm drops are amazing from the new boss. The best one imo are the druid helms because it is the only armor piece that adds skill points to vines which is one of the best druid skills. Collecting all of these helms and selling them in the future will make you lots of money. There may be more helms in the future but it is unlikely there will be adding skill points.

Tips n Tricks
-timing the bosses so you can farm them can save you lots of time which can be out to better use
-there is a 2nd tier in fingal so farming those which can be easily soloed works well, turning in the quest and selling the item you get makes more money than selling each of the pieces

Godzilla of Taranis

Good luck

*Disclamer
Update more of a guide on how to farm and sell the items plus what to do with it. Sorry about that but there isn't much i can say which hasn't been covered and also partly on OTM's fault for not making anything new/original

Also another tip: When ya see someone incapable of going to ow and persay the elix market (regular knowledge) is 4k each. However quite a few offer 5k. Sieze up the opportunity buy em out and sell in ow for big profits!

Another nasty trick ( some ppl on my server do it )
1. Hogg bosses and keep the drops for yourself
2. Buy all of the same items ( so only you have them ) like mind slates, drags
3. Wait few days/weeks
4. Sell them 2-3x the 'normal' price

People actually buy from you because they need for quest and you're the only one having those items
Kinda mean but you make money of it

It ruins the economy and only applies to higher levels, my guide is for anyone with a good amount of money to start off (200-300k preferably)

Also most low levels don't know the worth of most items, so if you see then selling something that you know you could resell for big cash get it. Like the other day I bought a pink mask of lugh for 1.5k from a lvl 10. Then I resold for 20k, easy money ;)
