"We call upon Bexley Council to divest from fossil fuels (coal, oil and gas). Fossil fuels are contributing to climate change and this is having a catastrophic effect on ecosystems around the globe. We believe that investing in fossil fuels is inconsistent with the commitment to ethical investment as laid out in Bexley Council's Statement of Investment Principles"

Global climate change is an issue which affects us all - and the consequences will become more severe as weather patterns change, famines and droughts increase, and ecosystems begin to collapse. To protect the Earth for future generations, It is vital that we take action to reduce emissions from fossil fuels. 

DivestBexley is part of a grass-roots movement which aims for a world beyond fossil fuels. We campaign to encourage governments (both local and national), companies and individuals to divest money from fossil fuels and give support to those who are fighting climate change across the globe.

The global movement has achieved successes already by encouraging universities, foundations and even national governments to divest. We ask that Bexley Council join with others to work towards a sustainable future which does not rely on coal oil and natural gas.
