Develop a Shared Vision of How Technology Supports Teaching & Learning promote a culture “ that provides a  rigorous , relevant and  engaging  education” - ISTE NETS∙A “ lead the conversation” “ develop a vision of web 2.0 for achieving your district’s goals”

The Design Qualities of Work that Promotes Engagement ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],As Alan November asks, “ Who owns the work?”
 
Product Focus Is what students learn linked to a product, performance or exhibition to which the student attaches personal value?  Middle school students create math tutorials in Animoto and post them to the class web site.
Affiliation Do students have the opportunity to work with peers, parents, outside experts and other adults, including, but not limited to the teacher?  Students serve as captains, researchers, traders and checkers while managing  virtual portfolios.
Novelty & Variety Are we giving students the opportunity to select and use a wide range of tools in a variety of ways? 7th grade students worked collaboratively, using a variety of tools (GoogleDocs, MovieMaker, PowerPoint and Audacity), to create & publish presentations regarding the Holocaust.
Authenticity Are we linking the work of students to topics of interest to students?  High School students video-conference with a teacher 80 miles from the damaged Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant.
