Dave Ramsey, Host of the Dave Ramsey Show
"Too many people walk away from their passion with the negative belief that pursuing it would be unrealistic. Keith skied right toward his passion and has a life of purpose and meaning as a result. A great example for all doubters and small thinkers."
Dan Miller, Author and Life Coach (48Days.com)
"Gliding Soles is a powerful book about life detailing the many steps, choices, and falls Keith St. Onge took on his way to becoming World Champion. I highly recommend it for everyone. Why? Because Keith's story is really your story. Life is tough and we all take some hard falls along the way. The key is getting up, making a better choice, and getting back on your feet. This book will encourage you to do just that no matter what your goals are in life."
Tom Ziglar, Proud son of Zig Ziglar, President of Ziglar Inc.

Karen was born with normal hearing and grew up hard of hearing. She became deaf from a fall while barefoot water skiing as a teen. At the age of 44, she put her feet back on the water. She worked and trained with the World Barefoot champions and skied competitively for four years.
Karen has been featured on the TODAY Show, CNN, O magazine, MORE magazine, espnW, AARP, and the Chicago Tribune.
For fun, she is currently on a quest to barefoot water ski in all 50 states.
Originally from Berlin, New Hampshire, Keith St. Onge moved to Florida at the age of 19 to pursue his dream of becoming a World Barefoot Champion.
Today, the two-time World Barefoot Champion co-owns and teaches at the World Barefoot Center, the premier place for barefoot water skiers of all ages, from beginners to professionals. Keith has worked with Dave Ramsey (The Ramsey Show), Glen Plake (Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame) and Garry Unger (NHL Record Holder).
In his book, "Gliding Soles, Lessons from a Life on Water," Keith shares the success principles he learned along the way to achieving his dreams. At the lowest point of his career, he received a William Arthur Ward quote from a friend which served as a turn-around lesson in his life: "If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it."

- Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2013If you want to be the world champion of anything this book will help you. The strategies and life lessons learned are fun and priceless. If you want to mentor someone to be their best then read this book. The difference between being first and second is a world apart. This is easy fun reading with lessons throughout. This is not a book on barefoot water ski technique. This is about growing up with a mentor and adopting the right ways. Keith was far from perfect. We may all see some of ourselves in his foolish youthful ways. This is where a mentor need to read this book and a future champion needs to heed this advice.
Keith's formula is giving back to his sport in big ways. He has trained many of the current champions at his school in Winter Haven Florida, World Barefoot Center (WBC). [...]
World Barefoot Center has embraced his strategy of training with the best in a perfect focused environment. Instead of competing with ski schools of other top footers he trains champions and hires them. Recently he partnered with 4X World Champion David Small. No one jumps like David and he is on Keith's heals in tricks. I predict WBC instructor Ben Groen will move up from #4 to world champion in a few years if he continues to follow the ways of this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2012Ever since I skied with Keith when I was 16 years old, he has been my barefoot idol. So when I found out that he wrote a book about his life story becoming the World Champ, I jumped on the opportunity to get my hands on a copy!
Keith (and Karen Putz) did an amazing job writing in such a way to really promote self analysis. Keith was completely open about his past and all the life lessons he has learned the hard way. It takes serious guts to open yourself up like that! In so doing, his book really had an impact on me.
One of the most powerful parts of Gliding Soles was when Keith talked about red lights. He explained that red lights are God's way of testing his patience. This really hit me. It really got me thinking about all the tests thrown my way. Some of them I pass with flying colors, and others have stumped me for the last 20 years. But after reading Keith's book, I realized that I'm tired of failing some of those tests. Life is too short, and I need to free myself from the pain the failures bring. Thanks to Keith, I have become more aware of the daily tests, and struggled my way to pass them.
And his motivational vignettes didn't just stop there. His entire book is filled with them. I couldn't put the book down because I wanted to read about the next one. Another point in the book that really got me pondering was when he talked about fear of the unknown. The unknown can be extremely scary. But Keith explained how to mentally envision yourself doing what is scary. When you envision yourself being successful, you set a positive tone for yourself and before you know it, you're doing the exact thing you were scared of!
Not only was it really cool to read about how Keith got to the top (through all the trials and tribulations!), but as I've said, his book really motivated me to become introspective and make changes in my own life. I highly recommend the book to anyone, regardless if they are a barefoot waterskier or not. A huge thanks goes out to Keith and Karen for sharing such a gift. Thank you!~
- Reviewed in the United States on November 27, 2012Gliding Soles is an inspiring book for people of all ages. Keith's message will resonate with those experiencing life's innumerable challenges. Readers will readily identify with Keith's life journey. His self reflection is truly insightful.
I had the opportunity to hear Keith speak to the youth of Berlin last May. Students were encouraged by his story and lined up eagerly for the hometown hero's autograph. It certainly reminded me of Keith's account of waiting for Mike Seipel's autograph.
For those that are not able to hear Keith's presentation in person, this book will enlighten them and provide a clear vision of what this young man has accomplished.
A powerful read!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 20, 2013I'm not a big reader but I can tell you that I didn't want to put this book down. It is a very inspirational book and it makes you realize that even the very best of athletes go through many ups and down to accomplish their dreams. This book proves that hard work and dediciation do pay off and that you should never give up on your dreams. This book proves to me again how important mentors are in our lives and how irreplaceable they are to us. Reminds you to dream big because dreams do come true and this book proves it. DREAM BIG! Great book for people of ALL ages!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2014If you want to better yourself and receive everyday life lessons as well as achieve your goals and dreams then this book is for you! Keith has a great story of how he achieved his dreams and goals of becoming a barefoot waterski world champion and starting his ski school. Throughout the book you will receive many tips and quotes on how you can achieve your goals and dreams!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2013To me, Gliding Soles, is not only a story of Keith's dedication, perseverance, and talent on the water, but it is also about the honest struggles and mistakes he lived through that ultimately led to him achieving his lifelong dream. Keith's openness about what it takes to get to where you really want to be was captivating. Every time Keith learned a life lesson, the authors highlighted how it applied to all aspects of his life, not just barefooting, which is what I found to be my favorite component of the book. I'd recommend this book to anyone who wants to be motivated to chase their goals in life!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2014When I purchased Gliding Soles, I had no clue what was in store for me. Becoming engrossed in the story of Keith St. Onge, I was both inspired and encouraged by his unwillingness to give up in the face of numerous adversities. Gliding Soles is not simply story about barefoot skier, it's the story of an overcomer.
Well written and engaging book.
