The source of my motivation for doing this bike ride and fundraiser, is the life of Mary P. Swanson. Mary was a person of strong faith. But what was special about her was that she not only "talked the talk" but she "walked the walk" too! She was kind and generous to everyone and anyone. She served the homeless and mentally ill. She helped welcome people to christianity by hosting gatherings at her home and sharing the gospel with others. She loved children, and ran a home day care that has been remembered fondly by former students as the best day care ever! She was the "hostess with the mostess" and had bonfires, booyas, birthday parties, Christmas cookie baking parties, and carnivals for the kids. Mary had Acute Myeloid Leukemia, but AML did not have her. She continued to make time with friends, and volunteer when she could. Her sense of humor was present through it all. Having lost her hair with chemo, she dressed up for Halloween as Jack the pirate from Pirates of the Caribbean! She also had an adventurous side. She was known to dive from cliffs on the edge of the Temperance River in northern Minnesota. Adventure was her middle name, so it is fitting that I should participate in this adventure of a bike ride around Lake Tahoe to honor Mary!
Thank you for your donations, and may God's blessings fill your lives with joy!
Teams are made up of individuals. Without them, there is no team.
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I have a mission-to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers. To accomplish that mission, I’m participating in a sports endurance event as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. Like the other members of TNT, I will be raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support, I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.
Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help advance the research for cures.
