Why this petition matters
Started by Hackbridge Safety First Campaign
The new road layout and in particular the informal courtesy crossings in Hackbridge have made the area more dangerous for pedestrians and drivers. Children travelling to school, the elderly, disabled and visually impaired are now more vulnerable with no formal crossings to help them across the roads safely. We do not want any Hackbridge visitor or resident to become a statistic. There were 1,713 road deaths in 2013 with 398 pedestrian fatalities and a total number of road casualties in accidents reported to police totalling 183,670. Please support our petition to get the council to install formal crossings in Hackbridge and therefore increase safety for all as well as giving the community back its confidence and freedom.
