Welcome to the Vashon Island Beekeepers Association (VIBA)

VIBA operates as nonprofit volunteer organization. 

All VIBA business is conducted via the Google Email Group and the VIBA Facebook Page. Please join these communications forums if you are interested. The Facebook Page contains a calendar of events. 

If you are interested in becoming a new beekeeper, you may find Randy Oliver's no-nonsense introduction to beekeeping instructive, as well as Rusty Burley's overview of what to expect. Successful beekeepers see their time with the bees as a lifelong learning experience, full of surprises and rewards. 

It is very  important to know is that, like any livestock, bees require ongoing care and management to thrive.

VIBA is a volunteer-run club and it relies on its members to maintain the club hives and the club apiary. Members are expected to volunteer in support of the apiary/hives.
