Sometimes, items continue to appear in a PivotTable item list even though the items no longer exist in the data. For example, you may have a field in the data that contains the names of salespersons. Over time, some of the salespersons have resigned, and new ones have been hired. The old salespersons' names may still appear in the field list, although the data no longer includes records for them, even after refreshing the data.
