2018 Fall Littler Youth Fund Grant Application

PROGRAM DEADLINE: September 14, 2018 at 04:00 PM MDT - CLOSED

This program is inactive or past the deadline.

Description

The Community Foundation Littler Youth Fund welcomes applications and considers grant requests for the benefit of youth programs/projects in Weld County. The Foundation awards grants to qualified nonprofit organizations that make a positive impact in the lives of Weld County youth and address current and/or ongoing community needs. Grant awards typically do not exceed $10,000.

The Littler Youth Fund Grant Application provides applicants an opportunity to share ideas with the Community Foundation about the good work they are doing in the community. If an organization has submitted a Colorado Common Grant Application for the same program/project within the last 6 months, please contact the Community Foundation at 970-304-9970 as you may be able to submit that in lieu of this application. Also, if requested, applicants may be asked to present to the Littler Youth Fund Committee.

2018 Fall Timeline
September 14, 2018- Applications due to the Foundation
September 27, 2018-Presentation made to the Littler Youth Fund Committee if requested

Only one application per organization may be submitted for consideration so that the Foundation can help as many organizations as possible. If an organization has received a grant from the Community Foundation Littler Youth Fund, they must submit a final grant report prior to the grant deadline before they are eligible to apply for a new grant.

How Much To Ask For: Unfortunately, requests for support far exceed the Foundation's ability to fund them. Grant awards typically do not exceed $10,000.

In order to be fair, the Community Foundation instituted a “two-year rule” requiring that an organization which receives funding for two successive years must take one year off before reapplying.

Requirements

To be eligible for a grant, your organization must:

• be a qualified nonprofit organization,
• have a project that has measurable outcomes,
• have programs that benefit the youth of Weld County (defined as birth to 18 years old), and
• address needs that are not met fully by existing organizational or community resources.

Applicants must complete all the information requested. If they fail to complete any portion of the application, the proposal will be considered incomplete and will not be considered for funding.

The Foundation looks for proposals from organizations with:

• well-planned approach to meeting an identified community issue and/or need
• an established base of support
• committed, skilled leadership and qualified staff to undertake the project

The Community Foundation gives priority to projects that meet one or more of the following criteria:

• provide for more efficient use of community resources, promote coordination, cooperation and sharing among organizations and reduce the duplication of services in our community;
• test or demonstrate new approaches and techniques for solving important community problems;
• promote volunteer participation and citizen involvement in community affairs;
• build on local community strengths and assets; or
• initiate efforts that will continue and grow in their effectiveness

Preference will be given to organizations that have a physical location in Weld County.

The Community Foundation does not make grants from the Littler Youth Fund for:

• annual campaigns, special event fundraisers or sponsorships, the purchase of tickets for benefits, courtesy advertising,
• programs in which sectarian religious teachings are an integral part,
• political and partisan purposes,
• activities taking place before grant decisions are made,
• capital requests (except for items such as equipment which significantly increase an organization’s capacity and impact),
• endowment funds,
• trips for schools or clubs,
• deficit funding, debt retirement or funding to obligated commitments,
• individuals,
• application for the same project less than one year apart,
• requests for multi-year funding,
• retroactive funding for projects that have been completed,
• transportation,
• After-prom parties,
• scholarships or tuition assistance to private educational institutions, or
• for-profit organizations

Also, multi-year commitments are rarely considered.
