Review
'An essential guide for anyone who has survived the stresses of lockdown. On point, well crafted and oh so witty. Daniella should be sitting on Loose Women expressing her views on lockdown life.' Alex Wheatle, award-winning novelist and author of The Crongston series (Guardian Children's Fiction Prize)

- Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2021Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseDaniella's book, Lockdown Life, reads like a conversation with an old friend - a natural flow of wit, wisdom and reassurance that you're not alone!
The author's style of writing feels familiar in the best possible way, like that close family member or friend that always has just the right words at just the right time. One of my favorite lines (which I plan to tape in various places around my house) is "...there's incredible power in adaptability." Ah, wonderful words to live by in 2021!
Blechner's most recent work is relatable, encouraging and the perfect remedy for this unique time of social distancing! Highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Work of Brilliance
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseOh my goodness this is such a humorous read. As I flowed through the pages I not only recognised some irritating characters such as that blinkin life coach 'GO AWAY' lol, but also recognised myself. I felt if I read about the snacking too loudly, people nearby will turn their heads towards me knowingly pointing boney fingers.
I cringed through the Zoom Calls... if I see one more arrrrgggghhh! Although as Daniella did point out, they were a great tool for workshops, online courses and church services etc
As well as lots of humour, this book gave a positive serious side and showed compassion for those who didn't cope well or who lost loved ones either by coronavirus or other. It touched on us going through some soul searching, being kind to our bodies immune systems and stretching out a hand to those less fortunate and in need. I loved the positivity of this book. I loved laughing at myself and my daughter who I recognised to be a 20yr old lockdown extro pulling her hair out, hilarious. To this day I will never understand the toilet roll saga either!
Lockdown Life will serve as a great educational tool in English or History subjects in high school in the future...watch this space.
Thank God I have this book as we head into another bout of restrictions to our daily lives. Thank you Daniella for your witty yet loving insight bringing laughter and as you said a sense of freedom amidst the pandemic. Love it

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read during lockdown!
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseLockdown life was difficult for some and was a welcomed change for others.
Daniella touches on EVERY aspect of the lockdown life with humor, challenges, and lots of food for thought. From lockdown personalities which are spot on with key phrases and demeanors of each, lockdown activities (I love the lockdown chirpse!!) to how we can grow and change from what we have learned by the lockdown, this book will leave you feeling upbeat, encouraged, and even wanting to love your enemies.
With her own personal testimonies to support the narrative, this is a great, easy to read book that will make you want to do lockdown life again, but this time, using this book as your guide.
I recommend this book to all who have gone through this lockdown!

4.0 out of 5 stars Really good laugh
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThis is my 68th book purchase this year but being the only lockdown-titled one, it'll take pride of place on my shelf. That it's a really good laugh is a bonus.
Lockdown Life is a short (actual text is under 80 pages) and an easy read, humorously documenting the here and now; you'll recognise yourself and others on the pages and, hopefully, burst out laughing. I use 'hopefully' because this period hasn't been kind to all.
Lockdown has given us new vocabulary, personalities, situations, etc. Personality-wise, some of us may know the 'Lockdown Extros' - the "Rescue me! I'm so bored!" friends. We may also know a few 'Lockdown Intros' who have emerged into their hidden elements this year. As the book indicates, Intros can bake cakes (and/or knit) till the cows come home. This is their time to shine 😁
(I found a number of grammatical errors - not enough to deduct a star for.)
Pleased to note that each sale donates to a charity supporting kids affected by domestic violence - more than enough reason to get a copy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seriously funny... and funnily serious.
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseAt first glance its seems a quick read, but as you leaf through the sections you'll find a desire and a need to savour these morsels of humour and reflection. Chewing them over will make you giggle and think in equal measure; hopefully gaining more from the collective experience of the last year and a bit in and out of lockdown. This gem of a book doesn't just offer a review of problems experienced but also unexpected joys and solutions for our continued growth after we go forward from here. I highly recommend you dip in and out of this entertaining and educational work.

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect covid-19 keepsake
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseSo glad I purchased this book. It's an ideal momento/keepsake of the 2020 covid pandemic and one I imagine returning to several times over the years to remind myself of the craziness that has been 2020 so far, and def one to show the grandkids one day.
I am going through chemotherapy currently and this book made me giggle out loud during treatment. Its definitely important to laugh even when times are hard.
I particularly enjoyed the authors descriptions of the lockdown tribes, absolutely hilarious,
and definitely recognised myself.
Highly recommended. I look forward to reading more from this author
