3.7 out of 5 stars 58 ratings

Diane acted on instinct when she broke up a fight at the inner-city school where she teaches. When the superintendent suspends her, Diane returns to her hometown of Foxworth. Almost immediately she finds herself tracking down her old boyfriend, Tim. Just seeing him rekindles her love and she realizes that her life, just like her tandem bike, was made for two.

Unfortunately, Tim keeps pushing her away, claiming it will never work out. After all, she still wants to live in the city and he can’t imagine leaving his family’s bakery. But Diane discovers there’s more to it than that. Tim has been hiding in this small town because he has a secret.

Made for Two, a novella by Karen Lenfestey, is a quick and delightful read. It's the sweet story of a teacher who returns to her hometown when her job is in jeopardy and she reconnects with an old boyfriend. Will events that have occurred since they last saw each other doom their relationship? Although the book is short, you come to know the characters well and even learn their histories. Even though it's short, the story is complete with a satisfying ending. This is the first book I've read by this author, but I'll definitely read others.

By the way, I saw NO errors in this book, which allowed me to focus on the story without being distracted. I appreciate that.

This is an e-novella that I was alerted to for 99 cents on Amazon and it sounded pretty good. It was about a teacher, who went back home after an issue she had at the inner city school in Chicago where she taught. She tried to reconnect with her old love while she was there. They had broken up when she moved to Chicago to teach, because he didn't want to leave. He wanted to stay and run the family bakery. Well, she had also been best friends with his sister. And when Diane goes to the bakery to see Tim, his sister is very hateful and doesn't want her to even talk to him. It seems that Tim has been in a pretty big almost depression since Diane left. And he kind of hides out in the back of the bakery. Diane also is home with her mother, who has been alone since her dad died. And she finds out that her mom isn't really leaving the house much, even to the point of having her groceries delivered. So Diane sets out to find the love that her mother lost before her dad, and reconnect them, even as she tries to get Tim back. All while trying to get her teaching job in Chicago back, even if it might cause problems for her and Tim.

A quick read. Not bad. A pretty predictable story, other than one thing that had happened to Tim was not really what I'd expected exactly, but it definitely gave the story its little bit of uniqueness I guess.

It is a fast, fun and light read. Anovella of 52 pages. Its the first book I have read of Karen Lenfestey and I am sure it wont be the last. I enjoyed the main character and really felt sorry for her when she was put on an investigation leave for helping a student. She was actually trying to break up a fight at the school. However, in the end this allegation was likely the best thing to happen to her as it was the reason for the changes in her life.

It's not easy to get enough of a actual story into a novella because the length limitations too often prevents enough character development for the reader to really connect with the characters in the story, but I'm happy to say that this isn't true in this case. All of the characters, including the very minor ones, are written and described so well that I could recognize them if I met them on the street. The same is true for the exceptional imagery; the descriptions are so incredibly specific that I felt like everything going on was real while I was reading it. Most of all, I enjoyed the dialogues which seemed like I was listening to real conversations! In short, reading this short love story was a real treat, and if you want to read a romance guaranteed to please anyone who loves a love story without a single objectionable word in it so it can be enjoyed by anyone from 13 to 93 (or more), then I recommend that you buy this one ASAP! Happy Reading! ❤️

One of my favorite short stories! This story takes you into the heart of all the main characters. The one that got away and the reflection many years later can have an effect on anyone if thay are not happy. A wonderful example of that here and how no matter what age we are it is never too late to find happiness. A wonderful and inspiring story.

Diane teaches at an inner city Chicago school and breaks up a fight and somehow becomes suspended for questionable involvement. During her suspension she decides to go back to her hometown. She goes in search of her old boyfriend who decides he wants nothing to do with her or does he?

Diane goes in search of her old flame and he turns her away because he doesn't want her to see what he's been keeping from her. He decided after college and after they couldn't agree to live in the same place, that he would try to live life more fully and feels he was punished for it.

I thought this was a sweet story that literally warmed my heart. I could feel the love they both shared with each other and could relate to that second-chance-at-love feeling.
