Marietta College Honor Band and Honor Choir Nomination Form - 2024
Band and Choir Directors,

Your students are invited to participate in the 3rd Annual Marietta College Honor Band and Choir Festival. The dates for this event are Friday, April 5th and Saturday, April 6th. The ensembles will be made up of some of the best high school performers in the surrounding area, and is open to any director-nominated high school musician, regardless of region or state. We invite you to nominate your best student musicians to be part of our Honor Ensembles. We ask that the students selected demonstrate good intonation, learning aptitude (focus and maturity), sight reading ability, a passion for music-making, and overall dedication to musicianship. Nominated students should be those that you trust to remain on task and in good behavior, even if not fully supervised. All nominated students from each school will be ranked by the director (on this form below) in order from highest to lowest recommendation – every effort will be made to accept nominations from each school depending on instrumentation or voicing needs of the ensembles. The cost per student is $100. This will cover their hotel stay, meals, t-shirts, music, clinicians, etc. (a $60 commuter option is also available). If you have students with financial difficulties that want to participate, and your department budget is not able to cover them, please reach out to Prof. Jordan Reed to discuss potential scholarship opportunities: jtr003@marietta.edu.

Important Information + Dates:
  • All nominations are due no later than Friday, February 23rd.
  • Ensembles will be decided by Friday, March 1st.
  • Accepted musicians will have until Friday, March 15th to pay their registration, following acceptance.
  • There will be no refunds after Monday, March 18th.

General Outline of the Event:
  • Arrival at Marietta College: 9:00am, Friday, April 5th.
  • Rehearsal, breaks, meals, and activities, all day and into the evening on Friday.
  • Hotel stay (4 to a room) on Friday night.
  • Rehearsal, breaks, meals, and activities all day on Saturday.
  • Concert performance on Saturday, April 6th around 6:30pm.
