City officials these days seem to stop for nothing when seeking to hook up developer buddies with public assets. In the case of McMillan Park, 25 acres of open-air public space with an historic vaulted water system below, developers are salivating over a deal where they would get this land for less then nothing. In order to sell this bad deal, the director of the Office of Planning superfluously mischaracterizes the shape of the park and underground vaults, describing the site as if it is so deteriorated that people playing soccer on the site would cause the site to collapse.
