Morton's BMW SaddleSore 1000 Ride-In

If you've always wanted to join the Iron Butt Association...

If you've ever wondered if you could do 1,000 miles in 24 hours or less...

If you're already an IBA member, but want a little extra incentive as you prepare to attend the BMW MOA rally in Sedalia, Missouri...

WE'VE GOT THE EVENT FOR YOU!

This July, we're sponsoring a very special event -- the Morton's BMW SaddleSore 1000 Ride-In!

We'll make it as easy as possible for you. Simply register with our handy online registration link below, prepare for your ride by reading up on the rules and best practices (see links below), print out the SaddleSore 1000 documentation forms, get your starting gas receipt, and head west! Keep track of your gas stops and keep your receipts, get your final gas receipt in Sedalia less than 24 hours later, and you've done it -- 1,000 miles in one day! The bragging rights will be all yours!

But it's even cooler than that. You'll get to receive your Iron Butt Association certificate from IBA president Mike Kneebone himself at a finisher's party in Sedalia on Friday night! Details on the pizza party will be available at the Iron Butt Magazine booth when you turn in your paperwork.

NOTE: Deadline for registration is Saturday, July 14, 2012. No registrations or cancellations will be possible after that date.

STARTING

It's even easier than you might think. You can start in one of three locations: Fredericksburg, Virginia; Richmond, Virginia; or Annapolis, Maryland. You choose the location that's closest to you for your starting gas receipt. We've already verified that the city limits of each of these three locations is a minimum of 1,000 miles from Sedalia.

The Morton's BMW SaddleSore 1000 allows riders to begin their ride between 12:01 am Saturday, July 14th and 11:00 am Thursday, July 19; however, riders must finish in Sedalia no more than 24 hours after they begin, and no later than 11:00 am on Friday, July 20.

FINISHING

When you arrive in Sedalia, Missouri, get your closing gas receipt first to stop the clock. Make sure you take into account the time difference between the east coast and Missouri; while you'll gain an hour on the clock, you will NOT gain an extra hour to complete your ride. Then, head to the rally grounds to find Mike Kneebone, Bill Shaw, or other Iron Butt Association personnel at the Iron Butt Magazine booth near the BMW MOA Country Store. They will accept your forms and receipts, and check them for timing and accuracy. If there are no discrepancies and you meet the criteria, you're in and you'll pick up a certificate like this, personalized for your own ride:

SaddleSore 1000 rules Everything you need -- the forms, the receipts, etc. Note: You do NOT need witnesses at the start and finish for Morton's to MOA SaddleSore 1000, and you will not be sending your paperwork to the IBA. You'll simply hand it off to IBA staff at the MOA Rally.
