Grave Robber for Hire: Urban Fantasy Mystery (Grave Robber series Book 1) Kindle Edition
Born with a gift to touch handwriting to see the past, Angel uses her unusual talent to help find lost family heirlooms for her clients. A relatively safe enterprise. But as she tries to locate a Rembrandt, she finds herself facing a demon who also covets the painting.
Why does a demon want an object of art enough to kill for it?
Whatever those reasons, with the reward for finding the Rembrandt large enough to fund a larger animal rescue farm, and Angel’s fears that if the demon wins it will destroy all Angel loves, Angel must not just continue the hunt but against all the odds—win.
With her guardian angel and a private investigator she found too hot not to hire at her side, Angel will continue to hunt for the Rembrandt, and pray she not only beats the demon but stays alive and keeps her soul.
An Adult supernatural paranormal thriller.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2014Format: KindleVerified PurchaseA funny, suspenseful thriller that grips you from the beginning and pulls you into a weird and twisted world of missing art, supernatural evil, and plain, old-fashioned greed! Angel has the gift of time travel visions when she touches writing and is hired to find a missing Rembrandt. The previous owner, however, was so evil that only the thought of what that money means for her animal sanctuary keeps her searching. Helping and hindering every step of the way is her guardian angel, Viggo, and hunky PI Tyreal. Angel's tempted to cling to him anyway and hard put to not do so when the living relatives turn out to be more evil than the dead ones! Only drawbacks to this book are could use a little more background on the time-travel trick and it's a serial - you'll have to wait for the next book to see how it ends!

- Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2014Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAngel, formally known by few as Hayyel, has her own guardian angel and a talent for finding treasures lost through time. She has an ability to touch writings and a few other things only to transport her insight to times past, to learn interesting tidbits and tales from people of yesteryear. Accompanied by her own guardian angel, she travels through time to help find missing objects for heirs, claiming 20% of the value for her efforts. She uses the payments to fund a sanctuary for abandoned and ill-treated animals. The work doesn't sound dangerous--until Angel finds herself encountering evilness like she's never known, an evil that seems to have been inherited by generations to follow. But, she needs to fund her sanctuary, and to do that, she must face the evil and find a Rembrandt that only confrontation with horrendous lascivious lust and lethal acts can reveal.
Angel and her guardian angel are soon joined by another man with a doppelganger spirit that seems to be from the same time as the evil entity--and, through it all, she is dealing with gifts of dead roses and poisonous snakes. Of course, not all of this is new to Angel. As a child, her twin brother became evil incarnate at about age ten--killing people and even butchering a baby. While he is in prison now, her formative years with the demon that was her brother left a very strong impression upon her, an impression that never lets her forget how horrible people can be.
The story is good, loaded with humor, imagination and scenes suitable only for adult readers. There are many grammatical errors that seem to be the result of re-writing and not doing a good job with revising and eliminating the original words as the new ones are added. There are also some issues with the use of commas at the start of appositive phrases--though the subsequent ones are right there. Finally, the conclusion is somewhat abstract when considering the detailled work in the earlier part of the book. While the reader getrs the idea that another story will follow and explain much of the vague references, the lack of spcecific resolution to almost every issue is grating. A book should be complete in itself--and if the book is an installment in a series, that's fine, but finish the current story idea and start a new one with the same characters and ideas in the next.
This is a good book for adult readers who appreciate paranormal visits with the past, both good and evil--and, for those adults who appreciate erotica in the form of bondage or public flogging. It is a book that involves evilness and goodness to provide conflict at almost every turn of the page. Angel is called Angel for a reason, and the goodness she imbues on those she meets is evident to many people. Still, this is not a book for the faint of heart, and only readers comfortable with knowing about the not-so-nice side of life should think about reading this book.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2014Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI really loved this book. Angel won my heart straight away she is so original. The story kept me interested all the way through and made me want to read the next in the series when it comes out. The writing style made me feel like I was right there in the story so when it ended I felt a bit lost for the rest of the day. (I love it when it happens!!) Cassandra L Shaw where is Book 2 I am pacing the floor. :-)
- Reviewed in the United States on September 13, 2023Format: KindleThis book is the first book I have read by this author, and definitely found it interesting enough to seek the second book in the series. When I initially started this book, I actually went to look to see if I missed some sort of prequel.. there are a lot of things thrown in very quickly, but the author does a good job explaining as you go along, and I think the second book has a better flow. I like the uniqueness and fun, quick action in this book, and that the main character seems to be very comfortable being herself. I recommend this book if you were looking for a fun read that is a little different storyline.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2014'Grave Robber for Hire' is a nice novel with interesting supernatural plot line. I liked the idea of visions after touching certain objects - though it could be a little more explained exactly how it works. The romance story line, however, wasn't that interesting to me. Don't know why exactly, maybe because it wasn't very original. I'll be interesting though in finding out what happens next!
