About the author

I am an Australian quilter and have been quilting for over 20 years. I am absolutely obsessed with colour and texture and shapes and incorporate them all into my quilts. I have had my quilts published in all the major Australian quilting magazines as well as many overseas ones. I also teach workshops all over the world and have been so lucky to teach, not only all over Australia and New Zealand, but England, Scotland, Wales, France, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands and the USA.
In 2010 I was thrilled to be awarded the Jewel Pearce Patterson Scholarship for Quilting Teachers awarded by the International Quilt Association in Houston USA. This prestigious award opened many doors for me including a chance encounter with C&T Publishing. Never one to miss an opportunity I discussed a few ideas that had been rattling around in my head. Amazingly my submissions were accepted and Beautiful Building Block Quilts is the result.
I live in beautiful Sydney Australia with my husband Peter and together we have a business called Dyed & Gone to Heaven where we create gorgeous hand dyed fabrics as well as supplying textile art supplies.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2015Lisa is very generous with sharing her awesome talents in this book. Lots of before and after images, step-by-steps and embedded videos. Plus her invaluable "this worked for me, this didn't" insights. (I've--repeatedly--paid a lot more for Northlight art books and gotten beautiful images with limited how-tos, which has left me frustrated for the last time!) I am new to fabric art and Lisa's book has inspired me to jump in. If only I lived in Oz so I could take her live classes! As a serial art book collector, I highly recommend this book!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2015This is a very easy to follow book on different fabric techniques. The author explains all of the basics which is great for someone like me just getting started in creating fabric art. I appreciate the colorful how to photos. The author supplies lists of materials for not only Australia but also for the USA and UK. After reading this book, I now feel equipped to start my own adventures and discoveries in textile design.

I have not been disappointed Lisa takes you through all the different techniques to help make your textile designs pop. I can't wait to get started on some of the very easy to follow instructions on the way to creating some stunning pieces.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 15, 2014Lisa does not disappoint (I didn't think she would) her enthusiasm shines through and one cannot want to immediately go and try the techniques, but not only that, there is a sense of adventure in saying "what happens if". The book gives you the permission to go for it.
The video links are really fabulous and Lisa's personality really comes through, she is very generous with her experience and information. Looking forward to the next book.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2014This book is the greatest, brim full of down to earth instructions, I have already mastered some of the applications and completed three projects, can we please have more from this charismatic teacher.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2015Really useful quick reference, good for inspiration when I come to a spot in my piece that isn't working as I would like. fair price.Kindle application is perfect for use in the studio and elsewhere. suppliers lists have been useful, but as the U.S. dollar rises relative to the AUS and postage freight charges from the U.S. escalate more Aussie suppliers would be useful
