Quarter 4

Welcome to Quarter 4 Vikings! This page contains all of the information that you need to know so that you can be successful!

SCHEDULE AND CLASSES

The schedule will be the same that we currently have been running. CLICK HERE FOR THE SCHEDULE PAGE.

You will take your class Periods 2, 4, 6, and 8.

PERIOD 8

The most complicated part of Quarter 4 is Period 8 as this is new. The purpose of Period 8 is to provide additional support, especially for students who need more time to recover their learning and improve grades from D's and F's so they earn credit. Every student will be scheduled into a Period 8 where students will be scheduled into one of the following classes:

  1. Unit Recovery - Scheduled with specific teacher.

  2. Credit Recovery - Scheduled to complete Edgenuity to recovery credit.

  3. Off-Site - For Students Who Are On Track - Students can go home after period 6 or remain on campus to work with a partner organization or AP support if that is scheduled.

  4. Academic Success - For Students Working Directly With A Case Manager

If you are learning In Person, there will be a room number where you will go to for your classes. If you are Virtual, there will be a link shared for where you need to connect with your teacher.

The purpose of Period 8 is to provide time for students to finish incomplete learning and earn credit for classes. In addition, students who need additional time to prepare for AP testing will have that time.

Students will have 2-3 weeks to complete unfinished learning and then rotations will change if students have finished their work and are ready to move to their next class for support. The goal is that each student is able to demonstrate learning and earn credit in 1-2 courses that they may need to work on.

UNIT AND CREDIT RECOVERY

If there are courses that you still need to demonstrate learning in to earn credit for the class, you will receive a personalized email with the course that you should start with so that you can earn credit. Counselors have worked to prioritize which course you should start with, but if there is another course that you want to engage in, you can work with your counselor or teacher to make an adjustment. We ultimately want to make sure that you have the time to engage in the learning that you did not have a chance to finish.

AP SUPPORT

If you are in an AP class, synchronous support will be provided one day a week following the schedule below. Teachers will provide asynchronous work for you to engage in on the other days of the week.

OUTSTANDING QUESTIONS

If I filled out a Learning Preference Change Form, when will I hear back?

  • You will hear back as soon as we are able to confirm space for you to be in person. We do not know specific timing as there are many moving pieces for us to determine if we have space in scheduled classes.

What if I do not have transportation until 1:00pm or I am waiting for someone?

  • You can go the auditorium where you will then be assigned a room to work from.

What if I do not know where to go or what to do?

  • Reach out to your LC mentor, counselor, or grade level administrator. Don't know who any of those people are, reach out to Principal Wolf at Scott_Wolf@dpsk12.net, call at 720.423.2905 (no texts), or message me on Remind or Schoology.
