White poppy and Islamic tributes at Newport Remembrance

Help

Newport's Remembrance Sunday ceremony included a wreath of white poppies being laid by a peace campaigner alongside the traditional red poppy tributes. There was also a representation for the first time from the Islamic Society of Wales.

Peace campaigner Pippa Bartolotti, deputy leader of Wales Green Party, said she was "amazed" when she received the go ahead after approaching the local legion office.

Councillor William Routley and Mubarak Ali, secretary of the Islamic Society of Wales spoke afterwards.
