• Political Artist Meetup: Power for people not for profit

The show will be in part a response to the massive funding that corporate donors have been pushing into the arts while simultaneously neglecting our communities. We voted to specifically respond to the impact of DTE's underinvestment and monopolistic exploitation of Detroiters and are working with a local coalition "Work For Me DTE" to learn a bit more about energy monopolies, DTE's impact on our city, and alternatives to their model As part of this educational effort, Work For Me DTE recorded a short training about the impact of capitalist energy monopolies on our communities! You can see the training below!
  • Each Artist is encouraged to submit 2 pieces!

    • One piece that represents their artwork and practice in general. This should be something that is already made, written, or rehearsed and can give folks a sample of where your work is at currently

    • And a second piece that responds to the impact of DTE, power shut offs, corporate brand washing, on our communities, OR reflects on the goal of democratically controlled affordable power for all.

Our goal with the show is to demonstrate the breadth of our practice, as well as our ability to come together to push for a better future for our community.
Corporations shouldn't be able to cut power to 700k people, make millions, and then wash their brands with a mural or a sponsorship.

    our communities deserve more!
power for people not for proft!
