Ban horse-drawn carriages in Philadelphia!
Ban horse-drawn carriages in Philadelphia!
Why this petition matters
In light of the most recent horse-drawn carriage accident in Philadelphia that left both horse and driver injured, Peace Advocacy Network (PAN) is strengthening its call for a ban on horse-drawn carriages. PAN welcomes the public to join them to send a message that we will not tolerate the cruel, dangerous, and harmful practice that puts tourists, residents, drivers, and horses at such an imminent risk of serious injuries.
The ban already has support from area businesses, their employees, and animal advocacy and rescue groups who have signed onto PAN’s open letter to Philadelphia City Council. PAN’s Horse-Drawn Carriage Legislative Director, Brandon Gittelman, has stated, “It is time to ban the cruel horse-drawn carriage industry, and this accident in Philadelphia is just another example of the danger in mixing horses with city traffic.”
ABOUT PEACE ADVOCACY NETWORK Peace Advocacy Network (PAN) is a grassroots group completely run by volunteers. PAN strives for the absence of violence in the lives of people and animals. Campaigns include vegan advocacy, humane facts education, horse-drawn carriage ban, LGBTQ issues, and human rights issues.
