Cliff Richard v South Yorkshire Police & BBC

Julius Komorowski, Advocate, discusses the recent judgment of Mr Justice Mann awarding Cliff Richard £210,000 in damages against the BBC, for their publicity of a criminal investigation concerning him, in respect of which he was later exonerated.

Julius discusses whether the judgment has any implications for publicising criminal investigations in circumstances where this might lead to other potential victims coming forward to the police.

Reynolds & Komorowski on interim protection for Employment Tribunal claims

Reynolds & Komorowski on interim protection for Employment Tribunal claims

Lindsey Reynolds and Julius Komorowski discuss the decision of Lord Tyre in AA v Secretary of State for BEIS (bit.ly/2tqSV18). On 1 June 2018, he ruled that Employment Tribunal claimants can raise parallel proceedings for diligence on the dependence.

We address the implications for claimants, and their representatives, who fear their current or former employer will try to evade payment of any eventual award by the Tribunal.

Julius Komorowski, Advocate, (tinyurl.com/JuliusKo), was junior counsel for HM Government.

Lindsey Reynolds, (tinyurl.com/LindseyReynolds), Senior Solicitor at the Equality and Human Rights Commission (tinyurl.com/EHRComm), instructed counsel presenting the Commission's intervention.

The relevant legislation (Debtors (Scotland) Act 1987 (as amended)) can be found here (bit.ly/2MRNhx0).

Academic Lawyer ,

Great Podcast - Interesting and Informative

This podcast is excellent. It's well produced and well written. The primary audience is anyone interested in law; but it would be particularly useful to anyone in legal practice or academia or public policy.

Every two weeks Scottish Advocate Julius Komorowski talks about three interesting cases from outside of scotland around a particular theme (for example, criminal law). The explanations are clear and insightful. The podcast also includes adverts of interest to those in legal practice (such as job vacancies or professional conferences).

Highly recommended.
