We would like to weigh in and announce our opposition to NTCH-West TN, Inc of Columbia, South Carolina, who plans to build a 195 foot cell tower at Lou Drive in Dowelltown, TN.

We believe this tower will permanently intrude on and overwhelm the Snow’s Hill Battlefield and all it contains. (This battle was covered on the front page of the NY Times on April 1863.) This area of great human sacrifice and local historical significance has been set aside and protected through the combined efforts of concerned citizens, responsive government institutions and corporations, until now. 

If built as planned, the tower will also forever mar the pristine beauty of the Valley from Snow’s Hill, which encloses the battlefield. This valley, with its random yet perfectly placed interlocking hills, is a local scenic landmark which has inspired visitors, residents and their guests since the earliest settlement of the area.

Like the battlefield, it has been preserved and protected for all to experience and enjoy, until now.

By signing, we ask this tower be relocated to another site where it will not impact the such significant historical, cultural and natural resources.
