We have an 8 period day at Northland. You will have room in your schedule for 7 periods of classes and 1 lunch period. Please note a selection in English, History, Math and Science are required below as these are the required freshman core classes.

As for the other classes you select, make sure they align with your goals in regards to future plans and diploma types, as well as your interests. Please remember you only have 3 periods left to fill in your schedule after your core classes. DO NOT SELECT A COURSE FROM EVERY ELECTIVE CATEGORY--YOU WILL HAVE SELECTED TOO MANY CLASSES. Classes denoted with one * are one semester (half of the year) long, therefore if you select one semester long course you will need to select another for the other semester.

World Language (If you plan on going to college, you should take a language course)

-Select foreign language options based on your college aspirations or desired diploma type
-Please note foreign language is not a CCS requirement for graduation, however, most four-year colleges like to see 2-3 years of the same foreign language.
-Narrow your focus to only 1 foreign language
-Northland offers Spanish, French, ASL
-For students who are native speakers/fluent in a language other than English, there is an option called credit flex in which students can take an exam which tests spoken, reading and writing ability and can earn credit based on their skill level
