About the author

I love sailing, books, travel, and adventure! So, I think I have the greatest job in the world - I get to write stories full time.
I've been sailing most of my life and that led me to set my first nautical suspense novels on the waterfront in Fort Lauderdale. Featuring Florida female tug and salvage captain, Seychelle Sullivan, there are now five books in the series, SURFACE TENSION, CROSS CURRENT, BITTER END, WRECKERS' KEY, and MOURNING TIDE. The last book in the series is my most current release.
My other series began as something new and different for me, as I shifted to writing international thrillers. In book #1 of the Shipwreck Adventures series, CIRCLE OF BONES: a Caribbean thriller, a female solo sailor, Maggie Riley, and a maritime archeologist (and conspiracy nut) Cole Thatcher are searching for the wreck of a World War II submarine. The second book, DRAGON'S TRIANGLE, finds Riley in Thailand trying (unsuccessfully) to forget about Cole while being drawn into a search for a missing WWII treasure.
In DRAGON'S TRIANGLE, I have Riley sail her boat 1800 miles through the South China Sea. She travels from Thailand to the Philippines and at the end of her voyage, Riley discovers true love.
In November 2013, a gentleman commented on my blog and asked a question about some software I had used. I responded and we started to correspond. One month later, I flew to Fiji to meet him, and for our “first date” we sailed 2200 miles through the Pacific on his 52-foot sailboat. Now, six months later, we have traveled together through Europe doing research on the Knights of Malta for book #3 in the series. In a field of flowers overlooking a little fishing village in Malta, he proposed - and I said yes! My new home is now that sailboat out in the Pacific Ocean, and like Riley, I have found true love.
The third book in the Shipwreck Adventures series, KNIGHT'S CROSS, was written while we were traveling through the Marshall Islands and Fiji aboard my new home. In that novel, Riley and Cole are aboard their new expedition yacht in the Mediterranean searching for an ancient document.
I don’t know if I’ll ever be certain whether it’s my adventures that shape the tale or the tale that shapes me. But I do know this: I’m going to keep on living these adventures on the high seas and writing the stories that come out of it all.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2014Christine is becoming one of my favorite nautical themed authors. Her characters are on the raw side, not at all your damsel in distress type. They're as likely to rescue the Hero as to be rescued, I like that. She writes strong women who feel deeply and feel real to the reader even though they tend to be as swash buckling as her male POVs. This book delves into the theme of abused girls who overcome their abuse and become notable women by dint of their own perseverence and character. The scenarios are gritty and real, out of todays seamier headlines, realistic enough to be gut wrenching in some cases. Not for the faint of heart but aside from that I highly recommend it for a look at the real side of the female condition in the US and the hope that grit and heart inject into the darkness.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2013I enjoyed this book a lot. I read a lot of mysteries - they usually have a male main character and take place on land. Sea Bitch brings tales of female nautical characters who live on boats or work around boats. Not your usual fare. I have read several books by Christine Kling and liked them because of the unusual environment and characters. The little dark tales in Sea Bitch are darkly entertaining.
Kling describes what a noir tale is better than I could in her introduction. "In a regular mystery, the world is a good place. A crime occurs which throws the world out of balance, and the detective must solve the crime and put the bad guy away in order to restore balance. Noir is fiction of the impoverished - in body and soul. In a noir story, the world is s*** from the beginning. S*** happens. And in the end, it's still a s***ty world. In a noir story, the main character doesn't catch the murderer. The main character often IS the murderer."
If you've never read a Kling story - please do. I loved her Seychelle Sullivan tug boat and salvage captain in Florida stories. Start with Surface Tension and you'll be hooked.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2013I read these stories and they were okay, but none of them particularly grabbed me. It was a good book to have for some traveling I was doing, but that's about it.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2014One of the very few books, among the many I have read, which provides the reader with an accurate view of a small portion of the world in which I have played for more than thirty years. Ms. Kling's tales easily live up to her chosen description as "noir". Dark stories focused on women who have suffered abuse but not only do they survive, they manage to triumph in a world too often seen as meant for men, with women only accessories clinging to their macho sailor protectors.
Good and accurate descriptions of the difficulty so often found when working on boats, owing to the cramped spaces. It is the small background details of boat life which show this woman has "been there and done it" which in combination with characters the reader can feel are real humans, not simply characters found on a printed page with little connection to actual beings, that draw in the reader. The nautical tidbits are an essential part of the stories but they never overwhelm the course of the tales. The author also displays a knowledge of Ft Lauderdale locations and life that land-oriented tourists and snowbirds will seldom, if ever encounter and this too is part of the attraction for those of us who know this environment.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2013I am enjoying everything from Christine Kling right now. Am wintering in the area where her books are based, and it's great fun to recognize the settings in her books. Recommending to many friends. well written, great characters and just a good read.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2011This is the first of Christine Kling's books I have read. It certainly won't be my last. Each of these short tales tells a great story with believable characters in realistic settings and circumstances. The boating scenarios brought me here, the people kept me reading - now I feel like I have to read every book Christine has written.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2013I found the book to be boring and covers in part a well told story ... love. I can read that in any mills and boon ... not in a yachting book please.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2011I purchased Sea Bitch: Four Tales of Nautical Noir because I've read all of Christine's Seychelle Sullivan books and enjoyed them. Like her novels, these short stories are entertaining, well written, and you can almost smell the ocean while you're reading them.
I'm looking forward to reading her new book, Circle of Bones, which I understand will be available shortly.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good point of view
Sea Bitch: Four Tales of Nautical Noir Short stories they may be but very well written. This tale is to the point in more ways than one with a truly shocking ending. This from the pen of an author who not only knows her language but also her boats. I really wanted it to carry on in the same vein, but what a high the ending left me at. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars 4 great short stories
These are 4 great short stories with a nautical setting. All the stories are just the right sort of length to allow you to get into them, and contain unexpected twists.
Will definitely be reading more from Christine.
