Team PB&J Is Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

In January, I had a prosthetic cornea transplant that gave me some vision in an eye that had none. Before that transplant, I had been legally blind for over 15 years. Without the financial backing for research, new technology, and patient services, my surgery would never have been possible. Now that I am on the road to recovery, I feel that it is my duty to help raise funds so that others can benefit from all the things that having the financial support can bring.

This is why I am training to participate in my first half-marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. In October, I will run 13.1 miles at the Nike Women's Marathon in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers.

To make this event even more special, I will be running with my twin sister, Rashida in honor of 5 special ladies in our lives. Jasmina Anema, Lynette Griffin, Michelle Jones Hill, Jamie Botteon, and Carol Sims: This race is for you! These ladies are the real heroes, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
