Who here has the MESSIEST stamp room(s)? See PHOTOS!

Post by GlenStephens »

Some clients do wonder what I mean when I say things like:

" I'll mail it when I ever see that album again"

or

"It is now buried under a foot of other stuff"

or

"Your order is getting into the TOP 6 inches of the pile"

or

Yes I do have a stockbook of Germany around the place SOMEWHERE

As their neat little stamp den experiences no such issues, and such answers from me seem incomprehensible. 8)

So based on some incredulity in another thread where I showed just ONE photo of my patented® filing system, here is some more background.

I live in a very large 3 storey home, overlooking the Harbour with 180 degree water views.

From top to bottom it is a metre or two deep in stamp boxes, and cartons and paperwork and junk.

On stairwells, in hallways, and covering every surface of the kitchen dining rooms, lounge rooms and bedrooms, even top of the washing machine. :D

A few random photos I took below will convey the message a little more clearly!

The massive garage is also stacked high with shelves and cartons, but I was too lazy to go down the 40 stairs to take pix of that. :)

So look carefully at these photos and when I say your little black stock-card or Hagner sheet or letter is misplaced - trust me - it IS.

So c'mon .. I can't be alone - who also here has a slightly less than Library Of Congress standard, neat, patented storage system like I do?

Glen.... HOW DOES IT WORK

Must be fun at stocktake time or a ATO audit.

My wife now loves me again after seeing your amazing Distribution Centre.

My missus thinks I'm an angel after seeing this mess.

I'll keep asking though. Grab an empty carton. Throw stuff in it (you can close your eyes for this bit if you like  ), offer it up for sale. I will buy it.

Glen, I'm sure your forebears were either Scots, who throw nothing out or Gypsies, who collect any and everything.

Well I did that .. 5 or 10 cartons in fact, with 45 large albums and no-one was interested:

Glen,

You must have a memory like that of an elephant. My stamp den would be just one little table with a few boxes of stamps and covers and even with that I often ask....now where did I put that darn stamp?

ABSOLUTELY .. was filed away and indexed for action promptly via the dining table organisation system.

Next time I need to eat I will either find it again when cleaning a square foot of space, or dump a foot of other urgent matters on top of it. 8)

Kris .. well it IS the main dining table as you can see.

The very few stamps there on it, and the very small amount of paperwork, are both just "temporary" (for the past 17 years!)

I'm so glad that glen posted these pictures in a thread of their own

Originally they were tacked on to the bottom of some dvds glen was trying to flog.

I still laugh every time i see these pictures - and what's better there are more pictures now.

It almost looks like one of those houses that get featured on ACA or today tonight.

I keep showing my wife these pictures and say 'look how lucky you are'.

I notice that the magazine on the front right corner of your dining table says "MAD MEN" in large letters at the foot of the page. I wonder if this is significant? :?

Of course she does not go into the "stamp room" aka Study :D

Well, In another way, Glen is telling us that his business is extremely good as,

(1) He has stacks of orders which haven't processed yet
(2) He even doesn't have place to keep his stock
(3) He don't have time to organise his house as he is busy with his business
(4) He has no time to sleep (His stock on his bed)
(5) He has no time to eat (He may just have simple food but there is a stack of files on his stove...)

Hi Tooler101, tell your wife this is reasonably the way to be most successful businessman...... :D :D :D :D

That earthquake had its epicentre in Castlecrag actually.

Things and stamps were tossed onto the floor recklessly and with no mercy. :)

I thought that must have been what happened.....

The epicentre was actually quite close to where I live. Gave the house quite a good shake.
