fDIP Advocacy Action Training | Stopping the Superbugs
The declining antibiotics pipeline and rising antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a grave public health threat. Bacteria are evolving rapidly and becoming resistant to antibiotics due to overuse, and not enough antibiotics are being developed to keep up. A recent report projects if current rates of AMR emergence persist, by 2050, 10 million lives will be lost annually due to highly evolved and resistant bacteria known as “superbugs.” The PASTEUR Act is a bipartisan federal legislation being introduced to stop them.
