  •   Description of position
    The Director of Food and Nutrition Services oversees the district’s school meal programs, ensuring students receive high-quality, nutritious meals while maintaining compliance with state and federal guidelines. This role involves financial management, staff supervision, menu planning, purchasing, and program promotion. The Director works closely with the Business Manager and Superintendent to align food service operations with district goals.
    Key Responsibilities:
    Personnel Management: Recruits, supervises, and evaluates food service staff, providing ongoing training and professional development.

    Financial Oversight: Administers budgets, monitors revenue and expenses, and ensures compliance with reimbursement programs and reporting requirements.

    Menu Planning & Compliance: Develops nutritious menus, oversees food preparation, and ensures adherence to K-12 nutritional guidelines and federal regulations.

    Purchasing & Inventory: Manages procurement, vendor contracts, and inventory for food, supplies, and equipment.

    Program Promotion: Engages with students, staff, and the community to encourage participation in school meal programs.

    Required endorsement(s)
    Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent educational experience, with academic major in specific areas;* OR 

    Bachelor’s degree in any academic major and State-recognized certificate for school nutrition directors; OR

    Bachelor’s degree in any academic major and at least 2 years of relevant school nutrition programs experience; OR

    Associate’s degree or equivalent educational experience, with academic major in specific areas,* and at least 2 years of relevant school nutrition programs experience.

    *Specific majors/areas of concentration: food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or a related field.
