Update on XL Pipeline

State Impact

Opponents of the long-stalled Keystone XL oil pipeline say in a lawsuit that President Trump acted illegally when he issued a new permit for the project to get around a court ruling.

Attorneys for environmental groups on Friday asked a federal court in Montana to strike down the permit. White House officials have said Trump's move to kick-start the $8 billion pipeline is immune from court review.

Legal experts say that's an open question.
