Cari italiani e amici dell’Italia

Vi auguro buona lettura e spero parteciperete numerosi a questi eventi.

Federica Sereni
Console Generale

Dear Italians and dear friends of Italy,
It is with great pleasure that I send this newsletter – the first of my mandate here in Boston – to remind you of the traditional Italian Heritage Month inauguration. Among the various events to celebrate during this month of October, I would like to point out those connected to the 18 th Week of the Italian language, in particular the Salvemini Colloquium and the visit to Boston of Maestro Giulio Rapetti Mogol, an artist who does not need any introduction.

I begin my first month at the Italian Consulate in Boston with great enthusiasm and I am sure that this newsletter will be an important part of a greater effort to strengthen the communication of this Consular office. My goal is to maintain the high level of service already offered by my predecessor and I hope that bringing your attention to the programs and events that have been organized in the following weeks will further confirm the great contribution provided by the Italian and Italian – American communities in the United States.
Warm greetings and I hope you will participate!

Italy’s Top Songwriter Mogol to Visit Boston: Oct. 1-5
One of Italy’s most famous songwriters and lyricists is coming to Boston.

Giulio Rapetti Mogol has been invited to a series of events during the “Vivere all’Italiana” (Living the Italian Way) initiative organized and promoted by the Consulate General of Italy in Boston. Events include a book signing and an interview at Berklee College of Music. “I’m very enthusiastic of contributing to this prestigious initiative,” says Mogol. The lyricist from Milan, Italy, rose to fame in the 1960s, writing award-winning songs for singers such as Gino Paoli and Bobby Solo, and 1970s, consolidating a partnership with popular singer songwriter Lucio Battisti.

“I am very excited about being able to host such an important representative of Italian culture during my first month in Boston,” says Italian Consul General Federica Sereni, who started her 4-year mandate in late August. “Mogol is an outstanding figure and he represents a milestone in Italian contemporary music.”
While in Boston, Mogol will participate in several events, accompanied by Prof. Angelo Valori, faculty at the Conservatory “Luisa D’Annunzio” of Pescara, Italy.

On Oct. 1, Mogol will receive a special award for his “extraordinary contribution to Italian Language and Music” by Maestro Stefano Marchese during the kick-off celebrations for the Italian Heritage Month at the Massachusetts State House.

On Oct. 2 , The Italian song writer will also meet students and professors of the Italian department at Harvard University, headed by Prof. Elvira Di Fabio.

The signing is open to the public and will feature his autobiography “Mogol: Il mio mestiere è vivere la vita” (Mogol: My job is to live life). The signing will takeplace between 5-6:30 p.m. and will feature food samples and finger food provided by Eataly.
