- Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2017Coming Home: The Return to True Self is one of the most profound books I have ever read. It came at just the right time. I was and am ready for it. I keep it on my bedside table, and read it almost every day. It's a wonderful book to ask a question and open it. What I love so much about the book is threefold: first, it's written beautifully. The loving energy the author clearly feels is transmitted through the pages, and I feel uplifted every time I read it. Second, the concepts are easily accessible; she writes about spiritual ideas in a way that is very accessible, with examples of sessions, and exercises which she calls, "attunements" throughout the book. I felt like I was being coached by her. The writing is spiritual, meaning that I can experience it in my whole self, not just my mind or emotions. I feel my whole self resonate with what she says. Third, her writing is very psychological and meets me where I'm at -- not asking me to be ahead of it. She speaks lovingly of the ego and personality rather than putting down these necessary human elements of us, and her whole vision is of loving ourselves, wholly, and connecting with our true selves. As a turning point, she mentions that Source is within us; our power is within us! And this too brings a feeling of great love and power. Her humility throughout the writing is profound. Coming Home is a book way ahead of its time, and yet, despite her great experience, her kindness throughout the book is palpable! I see this as being in touch with her true self. After reading this book the first time, I wrote to her, and let her know how much the words spoke to my heart, as though they were written for me by a higher part of myself. Her response was so kind and affirming. She really walks her talk! From this book, I have gotten to know myself, my true self with depth and love. I am so grateful! If you are seeking a book that is deeply loving, inspiring, and kind, if you are seeking a spiritual experience and are having a spiritual awakening (again) or for the first time, I highly recommend this book. It is a beautiful, beautiful treasure which reflects what resides within!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2013This self-congratulatory book drove me nuts. Maybe I'm a hard target, since I'm more pragmatic and down to earth, as opposed to spiritual, meditative, and Gaia-loving, but it seems to me that for everything she advocates she also offers a disclaimer. I'm glad the author found so much success with her books, true self seminars, art classes for cancer patients, and dance classes for dog owners and their pets, but not everyone in life is as fortunate as this lady, and though she seems to acknowledge that, she doesn't seem to fully comprehend it either. Such phrases as "nothing is everything," "renewing the knowing," and discussions of the joy of death puzzled me. And when, in a hair salon, overhearing another lady speak about a dog she's training, the author suddenly "knows" that she is truly, deeply in love with dogs, I just gave up. Fortunately, this happens in the final pages of the book. The one thing that impressed me is that the author does know how to write eloquent sentences (even when they are a bit obscure in meaning--at least to me), and I didn't find a single typographical error in the book (which is a rarity, even for expensive editions). Acknowledging that the fault may lie within me rather than within the author's attempt to convey a message, I'll just give this book three stars and let you decide for yourself where it falls on the scale.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2014Helped me figure out a lot at a time my life was in a confused state. She explains the true self well and what it is and how it's something that isn't far from you. It's not separate from you, it is you, you just need to recognize it and that takes a lot of practice and insight into who you really are minus the conditioning of your past memories, family, society etc. she also goes into the personality/ego, that thing we always identify with that holds us back. What's good is martia doesn't dismiss the personality/ego, she explains what it is and how it is an essentiAl part of who we are and what it's functions are. In short life is wholesome, nothing exists alone but we must be able to identify the function of the personality/ego and let it go. That was actually a turning point for me. I recommend this book to anyone having a kundalini experience or some sort of transformation in their life. Great read
