Missouri State University has named an interim dean for its College of Business. The announcement comes a week before the college reveals the completion of a yearlong building expansion and renovation.

Dr. David Meinert will serve in the role for 18 months beginning Jan. 1. A national search for a permanent dean will begin in fall 2018.

Meinert succeeds Dr. Stephanie Bryant, who announced in August that she’s leaving the position. According to the school, Meinert began working at MSU in 1990 as assistant professor of computer information systems. He has a doctorate in management information systems from the University of Mississippi and an MBA and bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University.

“David has a strong record of service to Missouri State and to the profession,” said Provost Frank Einhellig in a statement. “He’s a great choice to lead the college over the next year and a half.”

MSU’s College of Business is housed in Glass Hall. Next Thursday, the public is invited to a dedication ceremony for the building’s new Robert Gourley Student Success Center. The 40,000 square foot expansion, with a $35 million price tag, will feature a state-of-the art finance and trading lab, entrepreneurship and sales labs, corporate interview rooms, a production studio and full-service café. The event begins at 10 am on Oct. 26 in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Grand Atrium.
