Wii bit of fun and Veen vs Zeldman in Celebrity Boxing!

January 9 , 2007

Once upon a time

I started searching for a Wii. I am not a gamer but this Nintendo console has me acting like Smigel from the Lord of the Rings calling for the “Precious.” Yes, I became one of those people asking the employees of Best Buy, Target, Circuit City, WalMart, Toys R Us, EB Games, Sears, and Kmart when their next shipment was coming in. I even found a mashup website called Wii Seeker. It was a great idea but I never found one using that because there are tons of people looking for the same system I am looking. I did however buy the remotes and the nunchuck before I owned the system. Sorry I had to I know its sad. Even those accessories are hard to come by I even bought some for my friends that couldn’t find the controllers. A few of us even tried to do the Amazon sale where they went in 15 seconds.. and none of us purchased one. I know your sitting there asking why is this so awesome? From a usability standpoint (trying to justify buying this totally.. :P ) it gives you feedback when you use the controllers. The creators were brilliant and if you get a chance to play you’ll be hooked. Even my friends’ grandparents are loving the Wii.

How I finally acquired one

I got a text message on my phone.."I have found what you have been looking for..Wiiiiiiii” The best text message ever sent by David while we were still at our Post-Refresh DC meetup. David is the “BESTEST FRIEND IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD!!!” So I drove Dan Rubin (he was captive actually) and we went to pick it up. I had to unveil it because well I waited this long.

Wii Mii Celebrity Boxing

Around 5am after creating all the Wii Mii characters I came up with the idea of Celebrity Wii Mii death match between Veen and Zeldman.

Wii Miis: Zeldman vs. Veen

See this is what happens when I stay up pass my bedtime.
Dan recorded it using his digital camera. It was great. We did our best not to laugh.

Wii Mii Characters

So this is what happens when you give a customization program to two designers. They stay up creating them and trying to get them just right. It was total ultimate fun.

That’s hilarious!  Although the complete lack of arms creeped me out a little bit.  Now I’ve just gotta figure out a way to get this shown at AEA Boston…

My guts were hurting from laughing too hard! That was so creative to come up with designing well-known characters. How many characters did you guys come up with so far?
