Why this petition matters

Started by Ross Archer

We the undersigned call on the Mayor and Cabinet of Lewisham to reverse the decision to end weekly bin collections.

Ending the weekly bin collections may pose a risk to public health, especially in the warmer seasons. Little consideration seems to have been given to young families who have nappies to dispose of, those with pets who have to get rid of animal waste and to busy celebration points during the year such as Christmas and Diwali when more waste is to expected.

Lewisham already has a fly-tipping problem and we believe removing the weekly bin collections will only increase the rubbish dumping that blights our borough.

We call on Lewisham Council to immediately reverse this decision.
