(VDCamp 1-23)1935 KGV Silver Jubilee Commonwealth Omnibus fresh MLH in the special album
Commonwealth KGV 1935 Jubilee Omnibus, fresh mint once lightly hinged, in Blue & Silver special Deluxe Stanley Gibbons illustrated Springback Album, sold to someone as a new issue 88 years back, and it cost an absolute FORTUNE then.
Only a few pix taken - we all know what the sets look like! One light first hinge on each .... . mercifully they used the top quality SG mega peelable hinges - these will peel off with barely a trace - indeed some will look MUH. After 88 years, some 1935 sets have FOUR layers of ugly yellow old hinge remains!
Likely been in the UK near all its life, and unusually fresh for these, being free of the rusting and spotting/foxing on sets that one near always sees, for any sets that were stored here for 90 years.
100% Complete, except for the strange ‘Egypt Letter Seal’ - as usual, that absolutely no-one regarded as a stamp when this set was issued - Stanley Gibbons included, who did not allow for it in this special album! Many still do not. 249 different values here - SG cat of these here as hinged is £1,420 = $A2,800, and getting super tough now to buy as a fresh MLH original set in fancy album of issue. Sydney dealer retail for this same set is $2,500.
Way too busy right now to spend a day squinting for the seemingly millions of constant plate varieties that occur on all these issues, and are now SG listed etc, often for very many £100s apiece.
