Cancer Prevention Education Course Part 1/12: Introducing Cancer Factors To get the most out of this course, after watching each video, complete the recommended activities explained in the description below. You may post your answers in the video comments or send them to me by email: sirblois@alumni.sfu.ca. I'm hoping this will be an engaging learning environment, so feel free to ask questions and answer each other's questions. Activity 1: Check at least one reference for accuracy. Find the associated page number. Compare the associated claim with a second reference from another source. Is the claim confirmed or refuted? References can be downloaded at: https://sirblois.files.wordpress.com/... Note: Part 1 references are on pp. 2-8. Activity 2: Do childhood adverse events cause cancer directly, indirectly or both? Support your answer with references to research. Activity 3: Create a multiple-choice question to test understanding of this content. Activity 4: How can this knowledge be applied to benefit people? Challenge: Some may be surprised to see EMFs, ELFs, phone and wifi listed as responsible for 1% of cancer. Some studies in the past concluded that evidence is not significant (p = 0.05, 5%). Examine their data carefully, using statistics: Let your hypothesis, H1, be that a 1% increase in cancer incidence is expected. (In other words, check the data using p = 0.05, 1%.) Show your steps and write a conclusion summarizing your finding. PPT can be downloaded at: https://sirblois.files.wordpress.com/... Note: Part 1 is PPT slides 1 & 2.
