- Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2013Wow. This book is awesome. The only thing that I knew about green was how to screw in a cfl light bulb before I started reading this book. This book is a primer to teach a person what green options and resources are available. It also helped me to decide what green options are out there for me and which ones I am going to pursue for my own home. After reading this book, my sister and I went on a Solar Tour of Homes Day in my city. Because I had read this book, I was able to ask the builders and the architects pertinent questions without sounding like a total idiot. My sister told me that she was impressed with my level of green knowledge. Some of the websites listed in the book are no longer in service, but the ones that are were really useful.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2008We are planning to build a house sometime in the next 2 years and we just wantedto get a little info on how we could "green it up" a little. Well this book was full of valuable info! There were so many things that were listed in this book that we had no clue about. Before we thought that we would just try to do a few easy little things to help the enivironment, but now we are thinkng of building a almost completely Green home. We found out from reading this book that it will save us lots of $$$$ in the future and that a lot of things aren't too expensive. Plus saving the earth is at the top of the list. If you just want to get some basic ideas about how to get started then this is the book for you. If you already know about the basics and you want more detailed info on how to do things like solar pannels and such, then you should go for the "dummies" books on each individual subject. That will help you a lot more. Go Green and save the earth!

- Reviewed in the United States on September 6, 2008A comprehensive run over all the options when building new or remodelling a house and wanting to be "greener". Provides most of the sustainable info you need, and would help for future house rating schemes as much of the content structure seems to be geared around LEED. A possible fault is too much detail on alternative technologies (e.g. straw houses) which the vast majority of even green obesssives will never use. Good for reference or just dipping. As a non-American I found it a bit US-centric but not so as to effect its relevance.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 25, 2016Kindle version is a "mini edition". Very basic information.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 27, 2010I am a green nut, so any book that is "green" is good to me. Stating that first I will say this is a great book on the subject. I will say that a few books on the market are better, but with any Dummies book you get a pretty good base to expand on.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not particularly illustrative. No references. OKish for the very basics.
The book (the kindle version, anyway) is very short, has several (possibly helpful) basic pointers but no explanation as to why to do this or avoid that. I was after a more technical account to green building and was hopping to, at least, find that type of references in this book, which I did not. There are some references to web sites that can be of interest only for US readers. I can't hide I was somewhat disappointed.
