laaring - 3-23 - Aust FDC Coll 1966-1978 x 137. ASC $1,165 for $A$150!
In 1970 Australia Post decided to tentatively enter the FDC market. It was very low key, and it was not well promoted or publicised. For over 40 years private cachet makers had ruled supreme, and any collector with a 40 year run of ‘Wesley’ or ‘Royal’ or ‘Excelsior’ FDC saw no reason whatever to change. And they did not. Hence the PO sold virtually none of their new product! And the few PO ones that WERE sold, were largely addressed which are NOT popular. My long experiences is that private covers makers are FIFTY times more plentiful than PO FDC.
Estate lot - as usual TOTALLY unpicked by me - what you see is 100% what was in the box! Deceased Owner was in Perth WA, so condition is cleaner than usual and flat and quite fresh for 50 years old, as humidity is not known there - NOT often the case from coastal EASTERN Australia - trust me.
Decimal era FDC from the Australia regions, fall into several distinct bands -
1 - Official Post Office covers from 1966 to mid-1970s are elusive when in clean unaddressed condition, as most are addressed and/or from private makers.
2 - Latter 1970s to late 1980s are incredibly abundant, as we had a massive "Stamp Boom" then, where investors jumped onto the scene, often buying 5 or 10 of each FDC.
This collector had a nice range - often a different maker for some issues, and a few duplicates. Mostly PO Official covers UNADDRESSED - lots on this era are ugly addressed. Owner has lightly pencilled ASC cat value on reverse for your ready checking.
5 or 6 covers alone are worth my $150 asking figure - bargain priced to get this off my desk! Indeed -- only about a buck apiece!
The issues AFTER 1978 are easy to find .... grab these and be complete.

I buy endless bulk lots from Estates, and distress sales etc, in this massive city of 6 million, with no other real stamp buyers here, and offer it here at *NETT* prices for fast turnover. NO "20%-25% Buyer Fees" and “3% credit card fees” to add to my *NETT* prices, as in auction! ZERO extra charged to use any cards - or PayPal in ANY currency. Many similar mouth-watering NETT price offers are being loaded weekly onto - www.tinyurl.com/GlenRare and www.tinyurl.com/StampDeals

"All Risk" Insurance is always possible if required as well, and is cheap and prudent at $A2 per $A100 covered locally, or $3 per $A100 overseas - and all buyers are strongly advised to use this, and I generally will add it automatically, unless asked not to.
