The Emergency Care Data Set (ECDS) is the new national data set for urgent and emergency care. The ECDS will be implemented in consultant led 24hr (Type 1) and specialist (Type 2) Emergency Departments from October 2017. It will mean that better clinical data is collected about the range and severity of illnesses and injuries that patients present with. This will help inform healthcare commissioning, allow better provision of services and help save lives.
