Sandra Cox is becoming one of my favorite authors. Her novels have a unique twist and are well written with believeable people and scenery. Her women aren't helpless damsels in distress and her heroes, while hard-bitten, are still human. If I could leave more that five stars, I would

Gwen is a young woman who's raising her little brother with the help of a family friend, Chen. She took after her father, who was a Bounty Hunter. After a job, she comes home to a man who saved her family from a would-be robber. The hero, Jordie, leaves the minute the sheriff arrives. Gwen finds out that Jordie is wanted, but she doesn't go after him after saving her family. Gwen wants to move to Montana and start a new life on a horse ranch, so she takes the job of catching three of the worst outlaw brothers.
I love Gwen's strength and ability to take care of herself in a time when women were more dependent on men. Promising one last job to her little brother, she sets off, against the sheriff's advice, to catch her outlaws and earn her big retirement payoff. She ends up with an unexpected partner. I love the relationship that develops between them on the trail. There are great conversations and plenty of action. As the two learn about each other, a dog finds them. You can't help but fall in love with these amazing characters or the dog. I didn't expect a couple of twists, and the scenery was detailed, making me feel like I was along on the ride. This is an exciting Western romance that I didn't want to end, but it did and very satisfactorily. I hope we aren't done hearing from Gwen Slade. She's a wonderful heroine. I highly recommend "Gwen Slade, Bounty Hunter."

The Lady scribe of old west stories has done it again, only this time with a twist at the very beginning of "Gwen Slade." Who would have imagined a female bounty hunter with such grit and courage. No matter the genre that you, dear reader, may normally read, a good western sets your world to rights in an old fashioned manner where we must cheer on the good guy. This is an easy read with an unexpected twist thrown right in the path of the story line when the conclusion is obvious. And what does our author do but pull the rabbit right out of the hat and give us that twist she is famous for. Excellent read from a master storyteller. Easy 5 stars. Highly recommended.

If you are looking for a strong female lead, for a woman who doesn't back down to anyone, and an action-packed read with romance, here's your novel! I don't read many--any--romance novels, but Sandra Cox is a gifted author who captures your attention and doesn't let it go. As a dude, I found plenty of action in this novel and it was hard to put down. I highly recommend Gwen Slade - Bounty Hunter.

A female bounty hunter always gets her man. Gwen is sharp, fast, and good...until she meets Jordie, a good looking outlaw, who manages to get under her skin. They join forces to go after a viscous gang to collect a huge reward which will allow them to choose a new life.
I really enjoyed this fast moving western adventure...with romantic overtones. It's a fun story with many twists and turns...plus the all important gunfights. Don't want to give the story away...but Gwen always gets her man.
This is one great story to add to your to-be-read list, and if you haven't discovered this author, you're missing out.

I never read Westerns, not until I opened the first page of Sandra's Western novel, Thunder Tree. I was taken back to the "good ole days" of watching movies starring Roy Rogers, Rex Allen, Randolph Scott and TV shows, Gunsmoke and Bonanza. Sandra writes scenes so you actually believe you are in the 1870s when you read them. I fell in love with the Western genre again. Gwen Slade, Bounty Hunter is packed with the rootin' tootin' cowboy action and warm romance I have come to embrace in a Western written by Ms. Cox. I recommend this entertaining read when you take a break in the middle of the holiday madness or anytime you wish to escape into its pages.

This tale of Gwen Slade was amazing! I love westerns, and this one reminded me a bit of Louis L’Amour, only with a female protagonist. Colorful characters, witty dialogue, plot twists, and suspense galore. Did I mention that the tension between Gwen Slade and Jordie Kidd burns hotter than a summer afternoon in Texas. This could melt your kindle, for sure🔥
