Ethnic Studies "... seeks to rehumanize education for students of color, center subjugated knowledge narratives and ancestral knowledge, and build solidarity across racial and ethnic differences for the purpose of working toward social justice... [Research] supports the positive value of ethnic studies for all students—students of color as well as White students."

Why take Ethnic Studies st GCC?

The Ethnic Studies Department aspires to critically evaluate the history and humanity of the many ethnic groups in the United States, as well as the contemporary experiences of these groups. Such study requires an interdisciplinary approach. Ethnic Studies courses are designed to do more than disseminate knowledge; they inspire, invoke action, and uplift social consciousness.
