The training sessions we offer this time are:

Bring your writing One-to-one session with a professional journalist who will read and provide feedback on your writing. 5.00 - 6.30 pm (individual time slots of approx. 20 minutes will be allocated). Priority will be given to those who signed up for this session at our previous Media Lab but were placed on a waiting list.

Come with an idea - A session for migrants who have an idea for writing an article but don’t know where to start or need some help structuring it. 5.00 - 6.30 pm, one-to-one or small group session.

Editing audio interviews - Select the most compelling quotes from our audio interviews with migrants and learn to edit audio recordings in Canva (basic audio editing). 5.30 - 6.30 pm.

Interviewing for podcast -  Get to know Migrant Voice guidelines for interviewers and interviewees, and learn to conduct and record good audio interviews. Come up with engaging questions and bring interesting answers out of your interviewees. You will practise interviewing in pairs or small groups. 6.30 - 9.00 pm

You can choose to attend one or more sessions - we ask for your choice in this form. We will do our best to welcome everyone to all sessions they want to attend, however places are limited for certain sessions.

Bring your writing  -  Are you a migrant journalist or have a story you’d like to see published? Have you written an article and would like a professional to read it and give you feedback? If so, our ‘Bring Your Writing’ session has you covered. Fill in the form to sign up for a one-to-one appointment with a professional journalist. You’ll also need to send your writing to marzanna@migrantvoice.org by 18th April to receive initial feedback and a confirmation of a timeslot for your one-to-one session. Please note, approval for your writing being reviewed by a professional is subject to meeting Migrant Voice’s rules and guidelines (these include: not disparaging other countries or other migrant communities, no personal invective, misinformation, etc.). Priority will be given to those who were on a waiting list for this sessions at our previous Media Lab in March. Individual timeslots between 5.00-6.30 pm. If you want to attend this session, you must sign up by Thursday 18th April.

Come with an idea - This session is for migrants who have an idea for writing an article but don’t know where to start or need some help structuring it. Our trainer will go through your idea with you and help you plan a coherent, compelling text. You will learn how to use key principles of written journalism in your work. This session will be one-to-one or in small groups. Individual timeslots (approx. 20 minutes) between 5.00-6.30 pm. If you want to attend this session, you must sign up by Thursday 18th April.

Editing audio interviews - Fully booked! In this small group session, you will learn how to select the most compelling quotes from audio interviews. Our trainer will show you the basics of editing audio interviews in Canva. 5.30 - 6.30 pm.

Interviewing for podcasts - This interactive session is aimed at migrants who want to learn conducting audio interviews. Our trainers will talk you through Migrant Voice's guidelines for interviewers and interviewees. Together, we will create a set of questions to ask migrant interviewees in podcasts and media interviews. At the end of the session, you will practise interviewing with one another or with our invited guests. 6.30 - 9.00pm.
