"The Engraved Stamps Of The Commonwealth Of Australia" Book

"The Engraved Stamps Of The Commonwealth Of Australia" Superb Slipcased Die Proofs Book - price *Reduced* $A200 this month!

The quite magnificent official Australia Post produced coffee table book. Compiled by highly respected AP archivist Richard Breckon, and the AP design team. Brass cornered, beautifully gold deeply embossed leatherette cover, gilt edged outer leaf edges, with matching marbled heavy slipcase. Issued in a VERY Limited Edition for “Australia 99”.

I am advised only a few 100 copies were ever made, and were a near instant sell-out, even at the very high issue price. Being fairly recent, they almost NEVER come on the market … no-one wants to let them go!

Semi opaque interleaved pages with designs printed on them. Real heavyweight grade archival weight paper. Varnished glazed paper for effect in parts. The photos really do not begin to convey the lavishness and class of this book. My guess is the book and slipcase cost well over $100 to make. Shows masses of issued designs and superlative background info. A4, similar in size to a Leather PO Year Books.

Also contains 28 different Official correct size recess printed DIE PROOFS in black taken from the original steel dies with PO Authority. From 1913 1d Engraved KGV, to 1965 Anzac. Incs most early commems - like Harbour Bridge, Jubilee, Canberra, Hermes, Sturt, Sesquicentenary etc.

Also high value Definitives like the £1 Robes and Arms, 7/6d Cook &c. All this at around $A10 an official steel engraved Intaglio Die Proof! And NONE obtainable any other way than via this Book.

The Die Proofs sold separately would realise DOUBLE what the entire book is selling for here. The KGV 1d Engraved, or £1 Robes could very easily bring $50 to $100 each on their own if sold separately as official PO issued Die Proofs. ALL of them are now fully listed and pieced in the Brusden White ACSC catalogue - Cat $700 as loose Die Proofs alone. A magnificent book for ANY collector to own.

Words cannot describe the lavish production and contents and luxury "feel" .... EVERY person - dealer or collector - who has seen it here on the office desk picked it up and said "WOW"!

Gary Watson's Prestige Philately got $437 for a book in a Public Auction. They called them "without doubt the BEST product released by Australia post in recent decades”. Bought a few in an estate, and have reduced the price of last copies from my normal $495 to just $A295 each! Buy yourself a classy GIFT you'll always love handling and looking at: $A295 (Stock 428YT)

$A295 plus global post

Call it - "Engraved Book : Stock 428YT" - please order via new HTTPS encrypted SECURE site - https://tinyurl.com/GlenOrder

And please do that NOW. Too many think “I’ll do that later” and then quickly “forget”. I then lose the stamps in the rubble here, and waste an annoying hour finding them again.

Image

All payment details etc are on: https://www.tinyurl.com/GlenPay - NICE franking is used when I mail : see member pix of that franking here - https://tinyurl.com/GlenCTO - and COMBINED POSTAGE is fine - save big money buying more than 1 lot at once!

For overseas members, to find out the approx cost in YOUR currency, click here - https://www.xe.com - the $A has CRASHED lately, and for USA buyers etc, these prices are REALLY cheap in your money!

MONEY BACK GUARANTEE - don't like it - mail it back within 48 hours of receiving it. No-one ever has yet. :)

Remember, adding another lot of mine (posted by either Admin, GlenStephens or Global Administrator or ozstamps) here (or on my website https://www.glenstephens.com/rarity.html ) for sale in general adds ZERO to your shipping cost, so have a good look at what is on offer here, in case something else appeals:

And "lay-by/layaway" is always possible - email me with any queries to glen [at] glenstephens.com - OR "trade-ins" always possible! If you have a pile of surplus stuff, I may well be happy to offset that against this item, see: https://tinyurl.com/GlenBuy

As most know - I do NO fairs or shows, have NO shop, and do NOT bother with ebay or any other auctions. I buy endless bulk lots from Estates, and distress sales etc, in this massive city of 6 million, with no other real stamp buyers, and offer it here at NETT prices for fast turnover. NO "20%-25% Buyer Fees" and “3% credit card fees” to add to my NETT prices, as in auction!

Many similar mouth-watering NETT price offers are being loaded weekly onto - https://tinyurl.com/GlenRare and https://tinyurl.com/GlenSpec

All stampboards lots $A100 and under are generally mailed Unregistered and untracked at YOUR total risk, unless YOU specifically note otherwise on order form. 1000s of my transactions here for 10 years have been safe by normal post.

Orders over $100 are normally sent Registered (PO cover is to $A100 only sadly) - cost is extra $A4 local, and minimum $A16 ($US12) extra foreign, depending on weight. Only YOU know if your street or Apartment address is secure - a large packet covered in pretty stamps left outside, just might tempt passers-by? Only YOU know that, I do not. Mail contractors these days are often lazy and leave packets on top of mailboxes etc in view of public, and/or out in wet weather etc. PO Boxes are FAR safer.

"All Risk" Insurance is always possible if required as well, and is cheap at $A2 per $100 covered - and all are strongly advised to use this, and I will, unless asked not to. Full detail on all of this - https://tinyurl.com/Glen2-15 It is like Travel Insurance - decline that when booking your ticket, and THEN tell Qantas you really meant to take it 3 weeks back, and you now need to cancel your ticket for no penalty, and see how you go with THAT one!

As per stampboard convention - this lot is offered exclusively first to board members - and on no other sales venue.

For members who make a BANK TRANSFER or Money Order etc, you WILL generally get your goods faster, as it saves me some hassle - but you MUST email me the confirmation number etc - many "forget"! :)

Have a couple more of these superb books in stock from an Estate I bought today. :)

Glen

Also have the Red, Blue and Green books in this Die Proof series on hand - complete contents of all 4 books are shown here -

A similar Red Book “Royalty”, 32 Die Proofs (Stock 428YR) Blue book “Federation”, 30 Die Proofs (Stock 428YU) and the near unobtainable Green Book ”Transportation”, “32 Die Proofs (Stock 428YX) were also issued in even lower numbers - $A400 EACH for Red and Blue book and $A550 the VERY rare GREEN one. Or all 3 of these for $A1,200 and save $150. (Stock 428YZ) Being fairly recent, these almost NEVER come on the market - no-one wants to let them go they are so superb!

Sounds like Qantas is starting up flights to Japan this week -- hooray! COVID is moving on at last.

Superb content in those 3 books - see full detail here -

http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=53340

Your 3 books mailed this week to Japan, Signed for, and you'll love the franking.

My Postmaster neatly cancels the full set of International Stamps to $20, then I tape a piece of clear plastic over the top, and THEN add ugly black marker lines over the plastic, so it looks like stamps are ruined.

I lightly place each stamp on a sheet of white paper with a tiny bit of Herma Dotto tape, so the stamps stay full gum CTO. "Free Postage" basically.

Thanks a lot Glen. Can not wait to see it arrive in Tokyo.

Luckily the post office is open again from Australia to Japan. However, in the opposite way, only very small letters are fine to send by airmail, other parcels still has one option to send by surface mail (means by ships, and taking around 3 months to arrive at Australia).

I forgot to say that I am also trying to collect all the stamps in those gems books (4 in totals, as described in the link Glen shared with us) in normal issued version, MNH format. So if any of you can offer me full set of them, please let me know.

Thanks for the insights. I did not realise that. For those unissued ones, they should be gems even in original proof format right?

You bet. Sold these this week.

Star of the show here of these 3 is the 1914 UNISSUED KGV head 2d, from the Note Printing Branch, of which the only issued stamp is cat $125,000 in ACSC. No-one realistically will be able to own that, so this is a cheapie way to secure one.

Yes, all the superb background notes in each, and pix of unissued artwork and extra detail etc, are from Richard Breckon, the AP Archivist for MANY decades - and who still is!

The other keys are the 'GUBA' Die Proof - was almost issued, and final plates had been made, but politics stepped in last moment to scupper it -

And both versions below of the 6d Kingsford Smith 1931 Airmail - with Vertical AND Horizontal side wording -

The GREEN album had by farrrrrrrrrrrr the lowest numbers sold - a few 100 tops I'd suggest, and as it also has a die Proof of the 1932 5/- Harbour Bridge in issued GREEN, is a super popular seller.
