Insightful Approach on How to Meet New People
Thought this was a well-written and insightful book that illustrates how important person-to-person interactions really are. It’s interesting that this book has been released during a pandemic when more and more people are living alone and are craving the connection that this author has outlined. A must-read for anyone wanting to break out of their “bubble” - once it is safe to do so ;)

Many people love to travel. Meeting new people in a different place and being fully ourselves makes us come alive. Yet, most of us stow away our sense of adventure along with our travel gear the minute we return home.

In the book Talk2MorePeople, Tony Esteves invites us to open ourselves up and bring that sense of adventure and curiosity to our everyday life. This is a deeply human book that touches on our basic psychological need for relatedness. But this isn't a book that just talks about the WHY, it's a book that tells you HOW.

The LOOKUP process for meeting new people is immediately actionable, and the numerous strategies in the book help guide us to take small steps, find our edge and practice self-compassion. Stories of the author's own personal journey help bring many of the strategies to life. Tony shares what he learned about other people and shows the rewards he had experienced firsthand. By connecting more deeply with the world, he managed to connect with himself more deeply as well. It is inspiring and empowering to read.

This is one of those books that is so practical and full of rich information that you'll return to it again and again. It makes you wonder: what if I allowed myself to talk to strangers, how would my life transform?

Striking a fine balance between aspirational and practical, Tony Esteves’s Talk2MorePeople details a useful, step-by-step process for engaging in more meaningful connections with people in a variety of settings. After devouring the tools and stories in this book, I found myself using the steps to connect with people in my daily encounters—at the local dog park, standing in line at the fruit and vegetable market, even in interactions with clients. It’s a lonely world out there—especially given the social distancing restrictions set out because of COVID-19. Yet, whether you’re a shy person or the life of the party, you’ll learn important lessons and practical tools in Esteves’s Talk2MorePeople that can help to expand both your personal and professional network, while improving your outlook on life in the process. A must-read for personal and professional growth alike!

A year into this seemingly endless pandemic, I feel like I’ve retreated completely into my introverted shell. I have often wondered if I would ever completely re-engage with the world once this has all passed by or if I would continue to keep my interactions somewhat limited just because I can. This book has pointed out how foolish that would be. The author describes so many instances when just making the choice to reach out to a stranger lead to wonderful and unexpected experiences, opportunities and even new friendships. It’s such a simple thing, to make the choice to put yourself out there and the author’s passion comes through the text. It’s good food for the soul and excellent motivation to just simply talk to more people. It’s just the type of attitude we all need to get this world back on track in 2021!!!

The author's mindful and gentle approach to meeting new people is so timely, given the increasing uncertainty and stress we experience each day in our busy lives. This book is filled with inspiring stories, wisdom, and practical advice: a must read. My favourite quote from the book: "The person you are about to approach could positively transform your life in ways that you can’t even begin to imagine."
  • Reviewed in Canada on February 21, 2021
This book is very timely as it encourages us to “look up” and seek opportunities for connections with others. The suggestions and tips are fun and easy to follow and I enjoyed hearing about the author’s own journey of meeting others. But it is not just an important exploration of what is out there, but also of within, of self-reflection and growth.

This book is about cultivating the practice of proactively seeking and meeting new people and how that affects your life in positive and enriching ways.

What I appreciated about the book is learning how to create opportunities to meet new people and then follow through with fun conversations and deep curiosity.

As someone who is an introvert by nature and rarely reaches out to others, this book highlighted how much opportunity and chances for adventure I was missing by staying submerged in my own internal world.

Positive experiences the practices in this book created for me were meeting many new people and forming deep friendships with some of them. I learned about things that others find interesting that I lack knowledge of, developed new interests, and improved the way I interact with people I don’t know.

The book is easy to read and has a conversational tone which made it a joy to read from cover to cover!

Great anecdotes, personal stories and tips bring this guide to life. It’s not just about meeting more people but developing the right mindsets and being open to learning and playing. If found the author’s honesty compelling, he has clearly been on a journey of discovery and such a good idea to write this book and encourage others to put their devices down and engage with those around them. I am looking forward to doing more Talk2MorePeople listening and meeting new people in my new neighbourhood - thank you Tony!

I really enjoyed reading this book. I do agree the world we currently living in needs more people to get involved in putting our phones down and connect with people. Social skills is falling and loneliness is growing. I can see it as I work with mental health patients at NHS and I can see it. I've learnt few things in this book myself and from tomorrow I'm going on 366 days challenge
