These are just a few bites of culture that bring young Fil-Ams together. When we look at the differences between Filipinos who grew up in the Philippines and Fil-Ams in the US, what values do we actually hold below the surface? Join us for a conversation with Professor Evelyn Rodriguez to talk about identity, privilege, and life in the Philippines and the Fil-Am diaspora.

Scholar, musician, and curator Theodore S. Gonzalves reflects on the presence and absence of Filipino American histories in the world's largest museum, research, and educational complex, the Smithsonian Institution. Gonzalves queries the relevance of the United States Exploring Expedition of 1838–1842, the 1901 and 1904 world's fairs, and his own collecting activities at the National Museum of American History.

Gonzalves' published work includes Stage Presence: Conversations with Filipino American Artists, The Day the Dancers Stayed: Performing in Filipino/America, Filipinos in Hawai'i (co-authored with Roderick N. Labrador), Carlos Villa and the Integrity of Spaces, and Gossip, Sex, and the End of the World: Collected Work of tongue in A mood (co-edited with A. Samson Manalo).
