Topic: Medical Device Manufacturing in Florida

APICS Tampa Bay invites local supply chain, operations management, transportation and logistics professionals to our Professional Development Meeting on March 10, 2015 from 5:30 to 8:00 PM at Bascom's Chop House, 3665 Ulmerton Road, Clearwater FL 33762.

Our speaker is Mr. Geary Havran, President of NDH Medical, Inc., and Chairman of the Florida Medical Manufacturers Consortium (FMMC).  He will be speaking on the topic of Medical Device Manufacturing in Florida: An Industry Cluster and its Challenges.

Florida is home to one of the nation’s largest medical device industry clusters with a myriad of medical device companies and suppliers.  Florida also provides an insight into the future of the industry as well as the challenges faced by this dynamic, entrepreneurial, research based sector.  Perhaps, no other state is as well positioned as Florida to examine the medical device industry and the business climate in which the industry must function and thrive.

This will be a joint meeting with the Bay Area Manufacturers Association (BAMA).

Speaker: Mr. Geary Havran

Mr. Havran is the Chairman of the Board and President of NDH Medical, Inc., a medical device contract manufacturer located in St. Petersburg, Florida.  Prior to becoming one of the founders of the NDH Medical, he was employed by The BOC Group, plc for nearly twenty years holding various positions in their medical gas, medical devices, and pharmaceutical businesses in the areas of manufacturing, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and international operations.

Mr. Havran is the current Chairman of the Florida Medical Manufacturers’ Consortium, a trade group that represents the interests of the medical device manufacturers in the State of Florida. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Case Western Reserve University and a Master of Business Administration from Baldwin Wallace College.  He is a member of the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) and was issued two patents in the medical device field.

Mr. Havran serves on the advisory board the Medical Device Industry Education Council.  He is also a member of the Florida High Tech Corridor Council, the Pinellas County Economic Development Council, the Tampa-Hillsborough EDC Life Sciences Committee, and several academic advisory boards.
